YouTube streamer Darren "IShowSpeed" has kicked off his Southeast Asian tour, touching first base in Thailand, where he had a record-breaking stream. While he was in Pattaya city, he surpassed 615,000 concurrent live viewers, which remains a personal best. Speed then visited the Philippines where he had the opportunity to interact with the locals and try some traditional food.

He started his stream walking through the alleyways of Manila, speaking to locals, and playing with the children there. However, things soon got out of hand and the streamer had to shift locations because the crowd around him kept growing. Heading into the city, IShowSpeed asked around for places to eat and was directed to a local restaurant in Manila's Chinatown.

In the video above, Speed tries the famous "Siopao," a popular Filipino steamed bun filled with a variety of savory ingredients. It is influenced by the Chinese dish baozi. Although the bun was filled with pork, a fan standing near the streamer made him believe the fillings consisted of cat meat.

The fan taunted Speed by imitating a cat, saying "meow meow," as he took his first bite. Visibly shocked, the streamer responded:

"Meow meow? Meow meow?! What you mean meow meow?!.. Cat?! What?... A cat?.. Nah Nah we gone, we out" ('That's not a cat... they're messing with you,' said Speed's translator)

Speed quickly left the spot and continued his journey, walking through the streets of Manila's Chinatown.

Recapping IShowSpeed's first day in the Philippines

During Speed's first day in the Philippines, he went live on his channel for a three-hour IRL (in real life) stream, where he explored local streets, interacted with fans, and immersed himself in the local culture. Wearing a basketball jersey with the word "Pilipinas" on it and the Filipino flag, he greeted fans, played basketball, rode motorcycles, and tried snacks from local stores.

He also hinted that he might be sparring legendary Filipino boxer, Manny Pacquiao during his second day in the Philippines. This has left fans eagerly awaiting the possible matchup.

In other news, IShowSpeed had a close call with danger while playing on a beach in Thailand, narrowly avoiding getting caught in a fire.
