Popular Twitch and YouTube streamers Ibai and IShowSpeed were sitting side-by-side at the 2024 Ballon d'Or ceremony when Rodri became the first Manchester City player to win the award on October 28. The two content creators had quite the reaction to the Spanish footballer winning the Best Player of the Year award, beating out Real Madrid prospects Vinicius Jr. and Jude Bellingham who came in second and third respectively.
In fact, IShowSpeed had been banking on Vinicius Jr to win and could be heard saying and mouthing the Brazilian's name under his breath before the winner was announced. When Rodri's name was revealed, the YouTuber was stunned. After recovering, he stood up and could be heard saying Rodri's name in disbelief:
"Rodri? Rodri won?"
Ibai on the other hand had quite an impassive face and said:
"Oh my god, oh my god."

IShowSpeed is a known Cristiano Ronaldo fan and has consistently supported his former football teams such as Real Madrid and Manchester United. He has also been quite vocal in his support for Vinicius Jr in the past, having posted on social media defending the Brazilian footballer from racial discrimination.
While streaming with Ibai from the 2024 Ballon d'Or event, the YouTuber was quite surprised to see Rodri winning over the others nominated in the category. However, the American streamer did point out to Ibai that the winning footballer is from Spain:
"You are all from the same country. Espanyol!"
To which Twitch star Ibai claimed that Rodri is a great player:
"Yeah, he's a great Spanish player."
IShowSpeed still voiced his disbelief that Vinicius Jr did not win the Ballon d'Or, but the YouTuber did congratulate Rodri and said:
"That's crazy! I really thought Vini would have won. But congrats to Rodri."
The streamer went on to claim that Vinicius Jr had the best season:
"I really thought Vini won! I feel like he has the best season. I feel like he had the best season, wow!"
IShowSpeed also met up with Lamine Yamal at the 2024 Ballon d'Or event and shook hands with the young Barcelona winger who recently turned heads for his performance against Real Madrid in the El Clasico over the weekend.
