On October 22, 2024, Twitch streamers Pokimane, Valkyrae, and Sykunno teamed up alongside Senator Bernie Sanders on the AustinShow to address the upcoming US elections to be held in November 2024. The conversation dealt with issues in the current American and global political landscape, including climate change, minimum wage, and the ongoing Israel-Palestine conflict.
The stream was structured to shed light on the Democratic movement and featured celebrities like Star Wars' Mark Hamill, who appeared to express his solidarity for the Harris-Walz campaign. About an hour and a half into the stream, YouTuber and author Hank Green appeared alongside Shark Tank's Mark Cuban, to discuss the upcoming elections.
During the stream, Pokimane posed a question to Mark:
"Do you happen to have ever bid on gaming with a streamer in a charity auction by chance?"
Poki explained that she took part in a charity auction on Twitch streamer CDawgVA's stream where an anonymous bidder was willing to pay over $200,000 to spend an hour gaming with her. During the stream, there were rumors that Mark was an interested bidder. In the AustinShow recently, he cleared up the air:
"That was not me. Poki, I would've paid any amount of money, so you know it wasn't me because it wasn't high enough."
Mark Cuban dismisses $200,000 as too low a bid for time with Pokimane
Surprisingly, Mark stated that he would've been willing to go much higher if he was actually bidding to spend time with Pokimane. Cuban is known to be a big spender, especially when it comes to bold business moves, investments, and purchases. As a billionaire and owner of the NBA’s Dallas Mavericks, Cuban has made headlines for his lavish spending in various areas.
Poki was ecstatic to hear this and Valkyrae suggested another charity stream is due:
"We should do another charity [stream]. ('We should do another one, anyways, I'll leave the floor for more important questions', said Pokimane)."
Later on, Mark touched upon his relationship with Donald Trump, saying that the former President was never "willing to learn" anything new, while also showing support for Kamala Harris during the Presidential race.
