Twitch streamer and controversial personality Herschel "DrDisrespect" will be making his comeback to YouTube after a hiatus of two months. The 42-year-old content creator, who is permanently banned from Twitch, has scheduled a broadcast on YouTube with a cryptic title, "The Truth".
To those unaware, the streamer had taken the hiatus after admitting in June 2024 that he had inappropriately conversed with a minor in 2017 over Twitch Whisper, which eventually led to his ban.
Now, DrDisrespect's return livestream will begin at 6 pm UTC or 2 pm EDT on September 6, 2024. As of the time of writing, over 20,000 fans are waiting for the streamer to start his broadcast on the platform. His return is generating much buzz within the livestreaming community on X, with netizens remarking on his comeback.
X user @JAYBAYBAY remarked on the duration of the hiatus, implying that it was relatively short-lived:
"It was just a minor break honestly."
Apart from this, there were mixed reactions from users regarding his return, with many bringing up the streamer's past actions and condemning him with others still labeling him as "innocent" and continuing to support him.
@AyesuhVT speculated on the content of the upcoming livestream based on the title, stating:
"With a title like that you know he’s about to deny everything he admitted to."
"This is going to be interesting af to watch, curious how he tries to frame all of it," wrote @TheTylerBueno
"Brother you already told the truth what more is there," remarked @rellek795
Considering him free from any wrongdoing, users like @Emmmyalluu stated that they would continue to support DrDisrespect:
"He did nothing wrong in my opinion I’ll still support him."
"Calling it right now: he’s innocent," wrote @w7stgoat
"Welcome back. You did nothing wrong btw," expressed @kingbunnygroyp
What were the allegations made against DrDisrespect?
In June 2024, serious allegations of texting a minor in an explicit manner were made against DrDisrespect by Twitch's former account director for strategic partnerships, Cody Conners. The former Twitch employee also claimed that this interaction had taken place over Twitch Whipser, a now-defunct service, in 2017.
Further, it was alleged that this had contributed to the streamer being mysteriously banned from the platform despite having a large audience. Later, on June 25, 2024, he admitted to engaging in "inappropriate" conversations with a minor within a post on X.
Kick streamer Adin Ross had strong words for DrDisrespect, with him advising the former to not return to streaming and instead "turn himself in jail."
