Popular YouTube commentator D'Angelo Wallace took to his channel yesterday (July 14) to shed light on some serious allegations against YouTuber Cody Ko. For context, Wallace highlighted a couple of instances where Tana Mongeau (also a YouTuber) admitted that she had "hooked up" with Cody when she was only 17 years old (that would have made Cody 25).
The video covering the D'Angelo Wallace controversy has certainly sparked a lot of discussion within the content creation community. Popular YouTube subreddit r/youtubedrama has an extensive thread on this topic, where fans have given their reactions to the story. One fan wrote:
"D'Angelo points out that suppressing and censoring his (Cody Ko) fans asking for his side and truth and answers doesn't make him look better, it makes him look incredibly guilty. I'm fully believing Tana."
Let's look at some other reactions:
What are the allegations against Cody Ko?
Cody Ko has found himself embroiled in controversy after fellow YouTuber Tana Mongeau revealed that they had "hooked up" when she was a teenager. This was first brought to the internet's attention when Tana, during one of her live shows, was asked by a fan to comment on who had the "smallest d**k" out of everyone she had been with. An embarrassed Tana said:
"Oh my God, no one look at me," and then blurted: "Cody Ko. I can say that, I was literally 17."
In another video, possibly a podcast, Tana said a similar thing:
"I hooked up with Cody Ko when I was 17 and he was 25. There was a situation with Gabbie Hanna at a Playlist Live, where she pulled him aside and held him like, 'Yo! She's 17!" And then he still went and hooked up."
In his video, D'Angelo Wallace pointed out that 17 is below the age of consent in Florida, where the alleged "hookup" took place. He said:
"To be clear - 17 is under the age of consent in many states, including Florida, where Playlist Live used to take place. So this means that Tana Mongeau is accusing you of statuary rape, and she is not trying to hide that."
YouTuber Cody Ko has certainly been under fire since the allegations surfaced. However, with D'Angelo Wallace's video, a reputed commentator in his community, the controversy has intensified. Cody has not yet issued a statement.
