YouTuber and internet personality Amin "Chunkz" took to his recent podcast episode (The Chunkz and Filly Show) to give an update on his YouTube group - Beta Squad. For those unaware, Beta Squad announced that they would be taking a break from content creation after being active for almost two-and-a-half years.

Chunkz, who is among the five members of the group, spoke briefly about the others. He said:

"I don't have the right answer. AJ (AJ Shabeel) is all over social media saying 'It's done.' He says it's finished. I haven't heard from Kenny (KingKennyTV) since 2006. Niko (Omilana) is finally gone on an actual well-deserved break cause he just finished the prime minister campaign thing."

He also spoke about Sharky, who recently collaborated with Arsenal to host a YouTube video for the London-based club. Chunkz said:

"Sharky's whizzing around the world like you (Filly) are. He was doing the Arsenal-pre season and I don't even know how to put my shoes on. So it's kind of a mess right now. I think, just give us some more time."

Why did Beta Squad take a break from YouTube?

Beta Squad is currently regarded as the second-largest YouTube group in the UK, right behind Sidemen. They recently reached 10 million subscribers on YouTube, despite being on hiatus at the time.

In June 2022, the group announced that they would be taking an indefinite break from the platform as a collective. They stated that they needed time to return with better ideas and were feeling burnt out. In Beta Squad's last video, KingKennyTV said:

"We feel like the break is needed 'cause you know, we need to take a step back, to work out the way to improve the quality of the videos."

Despite the break, the members have remained active individually. For example, Niko Omilana recently participated in the UK elections, running as a candidate in the same constituency as the outgoing Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak.

Sharky also maintains an active social media presence and hosts one of the UK's biggest football podcasts, the SDS (Sharky Does Sports) Podcast.

The consensus is that the group will return at some point in the future, as they've indicated that their break is more of a sabbatical than a permanent departure. However, it remains to be seen when they will make their comeback.
