Popular Twitch streamers have shared their thoughts on Astro Bot winning Game of the Year at The Game Awards 2024. For those out of the loop, the annual awards ceremony, hosted by Geoff Keighley, aired on December 12, 2024. This year's flagship award, Game of the Year, had the following titles nominated:

Astro Bot
Balatro
Black Myth: Wukong
Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree
Final Fantasy VII Rebirth
Metaphor: ReFantazio

Several prominent content creators co-streamed the special event, including Twitch star Zack "Asmongold". The Texas-based personality was taken aback after seeing Astro Bot being named Game of the Year. He remarked:

"Please be Wukong. Please! Please! Astro Bot?! Really?! Wait, I have to play this now? What?! Who decided this? Who was it? It's rigged by Sony. It is! Oh, my god! Sony bought 'em out. Beating out Metaphor: ReFantazio, Black Myth: Wukong, and Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. Astro Bot wins. Oh, my god! What an upset. Wow! Well, we all knew Wukong wasn't going to win. Meanwhile, Twitch and Kick streamer Felix "xQc" claimed that the game developed by Team ASOBI winning the prestigious award at The Game Awards 2024 was "libtard propaganda." He said:

"Okay. It's libtard propaganda. It's Joe Biden's fault. This is my take, it's Joe Biden's fault one hundred percent. The council voted Wukong, it won, and then they said, 'Nope! Twitch streamer and One True King (OTK) co-founder EsfandTV also co-streamed The Game Awards 2024 earlier today (December 12, 2024). Upon seeing Astro Bot beat Black Myth: Wukong, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, and Metaphor: ReFantazio, among others, EsfandTV said:

"How? Astro Bot was good... but like... 'who votes?' It's a committee. 'Sony rigged.' Yeah, well... I understand that Astro Bot is good. But, like, I think Wukong is actually... I think Wukong is good, I think it was a little bit overhyped personally. That's like calling a 9.5 a 10. I think people are a little bit over. But, like, how could you even argue?"
