Rebecca "JustaMinx" has criticized John "Tectone" after he used the R-word to refer to Sean "Jacksepticeye" in a now-deleted post on X. This came after Jacksepticeye publicly revealed his autism diagnosis, leading to significant backlash against Tectone for using the derogatory term, even if it was intended as a joke.
The Twitch star has faced controversy since being accused of sexual abuse earlier this month, and many streamers have called him out over these allegations. His latest use of the R-word to describe Jacksepticeye also didn't sit well with various content creators, including JustaMinx, who reposted a screenshot of the deleted X post.
"Having the audacity to look like this and tweet sh*t like this while being an abuser is f**king insane lmaoo," JustaMinx wrote.
"This is out of order": Exploring online reactions to Tectone calling Jacksepticeye the R-word after autism diagnosis
On November 27, 2024, YouTuber Jacksepticeye made a post on X revealing that he had been diagnosed with autism after being assessed by professionals.
Fans and fellow content creators mostly responded to the announcement positively. However, Tectone chose to make a post using the R-word to describe Jacksepticeye:
"Oh got, he's re*arded..."
The term is widely considered pejorative and is commonly used to denigrate and stereotype people with mental disabilities. Dictionary.com defines it as "a contemptuous term used to refer to a person who is cognitively impaired."
Tectone's post garnered a lot of attention on social media, but he later deleted it. However, screenshots of the post went viral after being shared by Keemstar's @DramaAlert, eliciting mixed responses.
Some criticized the streamer for using the term, accusing him of making fun of Jacksepticeye's autism diagnosis.
"Bruh this [is] out of order. You shouldn't be making fun of that," @bro_tobro wrote.
Others called him uneducated for the comment.
"It just proves he isn’t very educated on what autism is because having minor autism is more comment [than] not having it," @ItsBeamm said.
On the other hand, some defended the Twitch streamer, claiming that while the term was inappropriate, he should not be "canceled."
"Tectone's choice of words was off, but let's not cancel him. Autism isn't an insult, it's [a] different perspective of the world," @nilofalvarado wrote.
A few people even found it humorous.
"I'm autistic but that lowkey made me laugh a little lol," @VKay69420 said.
In related news, earlier this year, a post claiming Kick streamer Adin Ross had autism went viral on social media before the rumor was debunked.
