Twitch star Kai Cenat has broken his silence on the recent accusations made against his cameraman, Chris, also known as "ChrisV." For context, on July 30, 2024, screenshots of ChrisV seemingly sending inappropriate messages to a minor surfaced on social media. In one of their supposed conversations from December 2021, the individual disclosed that she was 17 years old:
"Aww lmfaoo, u cool but respectfully I'm actually 17, my friends told me to say I'm 19 but yk (you know) I gotta lyk (let you know) the truth."
During a livestream earlier today (July 31, 2024), Kai Cenat confirmed that ChrisV sent inappropriate messages to a minor. While providing details about the situation, the two-time Streamer of the Year award winner burst into tears.
According to Kai Cenat, the person "lied about her age," claiming to be 19 years old. He elaborated:
"S**t happened... and the s**t comes up every time, bro! I get connected in situations... apparently, in 2021, this n***a was caught talking to somebody that's not the age of consent. N***a, it gets bad because she lied about her age. She said she was 19. She lied about her age."
The Twitch streamer added that when the accuser eventually revealed that she was underage, the conversation should have ended there:
"She ended up saying her age, said she was 17. Right at that moment, you're supposed to stop texting. Right at that moment, you're supposed to drop all conversations. Anything that's below the age of consent, you're not supposed to talk to them! It is not cool! You're not supposed to talk to them. You're not supposed to do anything!"
Kai Cenat says he's not associated with his cameraman ChrisV following recent scandal
During the same livestream, Kai Cenat announced that he was no longer associated with ChrisV in light of the recent scandal. While describing the situation as "weird," the New Yorker remarked:
"It's weird as f**k! It's f**king weird, bro! When you see a certain age, you just stop! It is not that hard! You see something, you f**king stop, and you do the right thing! You feel me? So, it's like... I'm not associating myself with him. He's not associated with me. I'm not associated with him."
Cenat also stated that he had no plans to take a break because of the controversy:
"I've got to start doing s**t on my own. I have to lock in. I don't want to take no break or nothing because I feel I have a ton of vision of what I want to do. I won't let anything, like, prevent me from, you know, doing certain s**t."
The 22-year-old then revealed that he reached out to the person with whom ChrisV interacted:
"I reached out to the person and s**t like that, and I made sure to get her s**t. She wants to be anonymous and s**t like that. So, I'm going to figure this s**t out. I will figure all of this s**t out."
As of this writing, Kai Cenat's cameraman, ChrisV, hasn't addressed the controversy.
