Twitch star Kai Cenat hosted his live stream on August 8, 2024, from the Ocky Way deli, in Brooklyn, New York City. He was accompanied by his Taiwanese friend and streamer Ray "rayasianboy." The creator repeatedly asked the children present behind him to "clear" the aisle, with Ray also doing the same.
As the children seemingly refused to vacate the area, Kai called out one child holding what seemed to be an iPad, and asked him why he was standing there:
"Yo, why you standing in the aisle like an iPad kid?"
The child offensively replied to Kai:
"That's why I called you a monkey!"

Kai Cenat has recently been carrying out his broadcasts from various locations, after Any Means Possible's (AMP) New York penthouse lease was canceled in the last moment, forcing them all to move out. Upon hearing the child's offensive comment, both Kai Cenat and Ray were visibly taken aback. Kai then confronted the boy, asking him to repeat what he had just said. However, to his surprise, the boy doubled down on his initial comment, saying:
"You heard me."
Kai then aggressively got up from his chair and turned toward the boy, exclaiming:
"What did you call me?!"
The boy then repeated the statement two more times. The other children noted this, and one of them stated:
"Man, he said it three times."
When Kai Cenat asked the reason behind the boy using such language to describe him, the latter replied that he said it simply because he could. Kai Cenat then asked Ray if he should "crash out" at the child's indiscretion. He said:
"I'm bout to crash out, right? We about to crash out, we about to crash out!"
