TikTok has officially been banned in the United States, and Twitch star Kai Cenat's message about the situation has gone viral on social media. Right before that, on January 19, 2025, the AMP (Any Means Possible) member made a tweet. He asked netizens not to "worry" because he was "taking to" the video-sharing platform owned by ByteDance:
"Don’t worry I'm talking to TikTok right now."
The post quickly started trending, garnering over 25K likes and more than 640,600 impressions in less than 40 minutes.
A few moments later, TikTok informed its users that it was no longer available in the United States because of the recently enacted laws. Furthermore, the platform claimed that President-elect Donald Trump has "indicated" that he will work "on a solution" to reinstate the application:
"Sorry, TikTok isn't available right now. A law banning TikTok has been enacted in the U.S. Unfortunately, that means you can't use TikTok for now. We are fortunate that President Trump has indicated that he will work with us on a solution to reinstate TikTok once he takes office. Please stay tuned!"
Several netizens then reacted to Kai Cenat's tweet, commenting in jest about what the two-time Streamer of the Year award winner could've said that led to TikTok getting banned one hour and 30 minutes early.
X user @scubaryan_ said:
"Bro spoke to them and got it banned an hour and 30 minutes early, wtf did he say?"
One community member joked that the New Yorker "sped up the process":
"Bro sped up the process," commented X user @selvino24.
Here are a few more pertinent responses:
"This is actually funny," X user @jeazous stated.
"Bro got it banned sooner," X user @RapGemineye wrote.
"Bro must've told them the low rapper fade meme is massive," X user @ITSDAFANTA tweeted.
FaZe Lacy says the US TikTok ban is a 'horrific world event'
On the same day, a one-minute video featuring FaZe Clan members Rani "Stable Ronaldo" and Nick "Lacy" surfaced on X. In it, the former received a notification from TikTok stating that the ban would take effect on January 19, 2025.
When FaZe Lacy heard this, he immediately wanted to make a "goodbye TikTok" video. He then suggested that the platform's suspension in the United States was a 'horrific world event':
"Oh, my god! This is literally, I'm going to say it right now, we've had many horrible, horrific world events throughout the past, the banning of TikTok is up there. It's up there. It might be the top three."
Popular internet personality Ali "SypherPK" has also commented on TikTok's US ban, describing the situation in Fortnite terms, stating that the platform "got knocked and eliminated by the US government."
