YouTuber Darren "IShowSpeed" grabbed netizens' attention online, after a clip of him backflipping onto his desk went viral on X. The streamer was seated next to his girlfriend, Vanessa, during his Fortnite OG collaborative marathon livestream with Twitch star Kai Cenat, when he decided to do the flip.
Prior to performing the stunt, the 19-year-old streamer had just revealed his girlfriend to his audience for the first time. During her introduction, Kai Cenat asked Speed to describe three things he liked about Vanessa. The YouTuber listed two and was then asked again to list a third thing by Cenat.
Without any forewarning, IShowSpeed decided to get up from his seat, turn around, and directly backflip onto his desk, where multiple items were kept (including his streaming setup, and food which had been brought in for him by Vanessa).
This clip was posted on X by @DramaAlert, and soon attained virality, having received over 4.9 million views as of writing. One user commented on Kai Cenat's reaction (Kai covered his mouth with his hand, seemingly in shock) after seeing Speed hit and bounce off the table mid-backflip:
"Kai was petrified," wrote X user @NOLAboy34
On the other hand, many users expressed concerns over the condition of IShowSpeed's setup as well as his own body after the flip:
"That's insane, what's his setup like now," wrote X user @zarali1197591
"That looks like that hurt," wrote X user @Wildbigskies
"Someone should look into 'can backflips give you cte'," wrote X user @GATOATTACK
Meanwhile, some other users found the YouTuber's spontaneous act to be funny, and praised his humor:
"How does this guy never run out of clips that circulate the internet," wrote X user @HumorBay
"Kid has no limiter to his madness," wrote X user @HueyTV_
Why did IShowSpeed and Kai Cenat decide to continue their Fortnite OG marathon despite winning a match?
IShowSpeed and Kai Cenat started their Fortnite OG marathon on December 27, 2024. The aim of the marathon was to win a match in-game while playing together. However, this task became tedious after the pair kept running into stream snipers who would deliberately seek the two out to eliminate them in the matches.
The streamers even claimed they had partnered with Fortnite's developer, Epic Games, to catch the stream snipers. After winning their first match, they found out that a stream sniper had supposedly helped the two out in winning the match, thus technically rendering their win invalid.
To decide whether to continue streaming, Speed consulted his old-time streaming prop, Talking Ben the Dog. After receiving an affirmative response, IShowSpeed decided to continue streaming alongside Kai Cenat to secure a legitimate win.
