Keemstar gives his perspective on the allegations of "statutory rape" against Cody Ko

Popular internet personality and DramaAlert host Daniel "Keemstar" has weighed in on the ongoing controversy involving commentary YouTuber Cody Ko. In a video, D'Angelo Wallace accused Cody Ko of having sex with YouTube personality Tana Mongeau when she was only 17 years old. He was allegedly 25 years old at the time.

As per the age of consent law of Florida, where the incident reportedly took place, Cody Ko was effectively accused of "statutory rape" by Tana Mongeau herself in many interviews over the years. D'Angelo Wallace lists numerous instances where the story has been reiterated by her on various platforms and has been corroborated by Gabbie Hanna.

In one such admission on her podcast, Cancelled with Tana Mongeau & Brooke Schofield, Tana could be heard stating:

"I hooked up with Cody Ko when I was 17 and he was 25. There was a situation with Gabbie Hanna at a Playlist Live, where she pulled him aside and held him like, 'Yo! She's 17!" And then he still went and hooked up. This isn't just some crazy tea. It was a crime."

As per a clip shown in D'Angelo Wallace's video, Gabbie Hanna had previously discussed "an individual" kissing an underage girl at a party. D'Angelo Wallace has attributed this to the alleged interaction between Tana Mongeau and Cody Ko. Hanna had stated:

"One time, I told a guy, I saw him making out with a girl at a party who was underage. And I pulled him aside and I was like, 'Hey man, you probably don't know. I know, like, she looks a little older. She's underage. Watch it.' And he's like, 'Oh, my god! Thank you for telling me.' And then he f**ked her that night!"

Giving his opinion on the situation and the "off-record" statement Gabbie Hanna gave to him, Keemstar wrote:

"Years ago Gabbie Hanna told me in an off record statement that a 25 year old Cody Ko was kissing a 17 year old Tana Mongeau at Playlist Live in Florida. The age of consent in Florida is 18. Anyone 24 or older hooking up with a 16/17 year old is statutory rape."

In a post on X made on July 15, 2024, Keemstar gave his side of the story regarding the recent allegations emerging against Cody Ko. Keemstar has claimed that he was told about Cody Ko's alleged behavior by Gabbie Hanna herself years ago. She corroborated that Cody Ko had been intimate with Tana Mongeau while being aware of her being underage.

Keemstar has also stated that he had tried to contact Tana Mongeau regarding the situation but the latter was unhappy about Hanna sharing her story:

"Gabbie told me she pulled Cody Ko aside to inform him Tana was 17 and Cody Ko said thank you for the warning to Gabbie. Gabbie said later that night Cody Ko had sex with Tana even though she warned him. I also spoke with Tana to confirm the story, she confirmed it. But at the time Tana was upset with Gabbie for sharing her story."

Addressing netizens' comments criticizing him for not disclosing these allegations after being made aware years ago, Keemstar explained that he could not have leaked the information without any confirmation or a witness on record:

"Guys, this was told to me years ago off record, I just leak that to the internet, without knowing its true, without someone actually going on record and destroying Cody Ko's career over something that can't be confirmed. There's no witness on record."
