Livestreaming giant Kick has reportedly banned the usage of packaged nitrous oxide, commonly sold under the brand name Galaxy Gas and originally meant for culinary purposes such as the creation of whipped cream. In a disturbing new trend that has emerged online, individuals are inhaling nitrous oxide from these cartridges of Galaxy Gas, which often come in different flavors, to obtain a high.

As per reports made on X by @FearedBuck, usage of Galaxy Gas during a live broadcast will now result in a permanent ban from the platform.

Nitrous Oxide (N2O) has been around for a long time, with many applications in the medical industry. Commonly known as the "laughing gas," it has seen much use in dental care due to its analgesic properties, and is, therefore, most commonly found in dentists' offices.

Apart from the medical industry, nitrous oxide is often used in the kitchen to create whipped cream and Galaxy Gas is a company that provides packaged and pressurized N2O, which has unfortunately led to it becoming a common substance of abuse. Notably, "doing whippets" using empty whipped cream cans existed long before Galaxy Gas misuse became commonplace.

Individuals often inhale the N2O directly from the can to achieve a short-lived high consisting of feelings of euphoria. However, the dangers far outweigh the potential benefits, with individuals putting themselves at risk of replacing their entire oxygen supply. They are thus at risk of fainting and even having fatal heart attacks.

This trend has seemingly found its way into the mainstream streaming scene, with FaZe member Nick "Lacy" also supposedly being seen with empty Galaxy Gas canisters in his room.

In the past, Kick has faced criticism from content creators such as Imane "Pokimane," who stated that she did not join the platform because it was backed by an online gambling website. To those unaware, the CEO of Kick is also the co-founder of Stake.com, with many individuals signed onto the streaming platform often hosting streams showcasing themselves gambling on Stake.
