Ed "Eddie" Craven, co-founder of Kick, has responded to a former employee's recent accusations against the platform. For context, on June 12, 2024, Melissa (@itsMelissadude on X), stated that the livestreaming platform was "going around saying" that they had been fired. However, they claimed to have quit the organization.

In a follow-up post, Melissa shared screenshots of their resignation email and accused Kick of "unethical behavior." They wrote:

"I quit to get away from this type of bulls**t unethical behavior - yet they persist! Is this even legal?"

Melissa claimed in their resignation email that an employee named Rohan told them that their parental responsibilities were a "burden on team morale":

"After being told by Rohan that my parental responsibilities were a 'burden on team morale,' which was solidified in the email, I have felt very uncomfortable in my team. I don't think anyone should be spoken to like that, especially about such an important part of their life."

Ed Craven responded to Melissa's accusations via an X post on June 13, 2024. While apologizing for not getting to know the latter "better," the Kick co-founder expressed sadness at Melissa leaving the organization on "bad terms."

He wrote:

"Mel, I am sorry I didn't get to know you better during your tenure. It's sad to see you leave on bad terms. I wish that further working flexibility could have potentially been organised for you, but consistent department and broader company policy is also important to us as we aim to hold everyone to the same standard of work. I'm sorry if this was badly communicated by any layer of management."

Claiming that Kick would "certainly reflect" on its policy, Craven requested Melissa to send "some examples" of the "problems" they mentioned:

"We'll certainly reflect on this policy & how it was handled. Especially for caretakers such as yourself. Would you kindly be able to send me through some examples of the problems you are facing with what people are saying regarding your resignation? My DM's are open and you also have my Email. HR is also always available to all ex-staff to address any of these kind of problems as well."

Former Kick employee says Ed Craven is "only interested in damage control"

On the same day (June 13, 2024), Melissa responded to Ed Craven's X post, claiming that the Kick co-founder "wasn't interested before" and was "only interested in damage control." They went on to claim that Craven "sat three meters away" from them and that they knew "each other well enough."
