Kick co-founder Tyler "TrainwrecksTV" stated on a Kick stream dated June 9, 2024, that the platform may receive a feature similar to Twitch's Channel Points for its upcoming 2.0 update. A host of other UI and other quality-of-life improvements are expected to arrive as part of the update.
As explained by Tyler, he has been pushing for Channel Points to be brought into the mold for a significant period and treated it like a priority since it benefits creators in a myriad of ways. In the clip, he can be heard saying:
"I think that's one of the things that should be a priority, right? 'Cause that helps product, that helps the actual site and it gives you guys something to record your f**king time watched. So, that's a good f**king-that's something good finally, that we get."
TrainwrecksTV talks about Channel points feature for Kick 2.0 update
Kick emerged on the scene in 2022 and quickly became a popular hit among streamers due to its relaxed moderation policies, 95/5 split favoring the creators, and ad-free approach. The Stake-backed website has since hosted channels of big names such as xQc, Adin Ross, N3on, Jack Doherty, and controversial creator BruceDropEmOff.
Regarding the update, TrainwrecksTV explained that Kick could incorporate the Channel Points feature after much exertion by him, to a level of "harassment". He stated:
"I have been pushing very hard, like to a level of harassment to Channel Points done. At this point, I don't think we give a f**k if it's ugly and half-a**ed dogshit. Right? If we can get some variance of it, something, just to start to get viewers to be able to track their watch time, track how many points they have, be able to predict sh**. Right?"
TrainwrecksTV also specifically mentioned YourRage as being a major proponent behind the feature being introduced, as it was often his constant reminders that stirred Tyler to action:
"I've been pressing that for a long time. YourRage has been asking me for a long time, so shout out to YourRage as well for, you know, pushing me to push them. I've been pressing them probably like once a week, maybe twice a month, three times a month... We just need something out."
TrainwrecksTV and Félix "xQc" were involved in a back-and-forth while playing Call of Duty together after the latter called him poor. The Kick co-founder responded by stating that he was "richer than" xQc, despite what the Canadian was claiming to his audience.
