YouTuber, boxer, and musician Olajide "KSI" has found himself in back-to-back controversies in 2024. On September 17, YouTube Minecraft legend, Daniel "DanTDM," called out the pre-packaged meal brand, Lunchly, for claiming to be a healthier alternative. This caused a chain of X posts from KSI, Logan Paul, and MrBeast, who founded the brand, to defend their product.

As the drama seemed to settle down a bit, KSI released two music singles on October 3, Low and Thick Of It, with the latter featuring hip-hop artist Trippie Redd. It's safe to say the internet did not receive the latter very well, considering the reviews for Thick of It were mixed when the song was first released. The negativity surrounding the reviews only seemed to escalate as time went by, and the YouTuber has now reacted on Instagram.

At first, KSI took the backlash in stride and seemed to enjoy the banter. But as time went on, his stance on the hate changed. In an Instagram story from today, October 7, he posted the following message to address the negativity:

"Imagine spending so much time and effort into making a song for people to then repeatedly take the p*ss out of it online. I get it's trendy to hate me rn, but can we like move on?"

Why do people dislike KSI's latest single?

Overall, netizens seemed to find the song generic and without much substance. The backlash largely stems from a few key issues, including the lyrics, the overall sound, and a perceived lack of artistic growth from KSI. YouTuber Jon Denton, famous for reviewing music, claimed the song was lackluster:

"How long did it take him to write the lyrics of this song? 14 seconds?"

Another content music reviewer on the platform, Scru Face Jean, expressed that song was mediocre at best:

"It's inoffensive, it's not like I would never say nothing about this is great. It's very passable, but nothing about this is horrible either. So it's inoffensive."

The timing of the release also seems to have played a role in the negative reception. The YouTubers' ongoing online feuds, including the one with Jake Paul, have contributed to the mixed reactions. Jake Paul’s mocking comments about the song on social media have added fuel to the fire, amplifying the critique.

In one of his tweets, Paul sarcastically joked that the song made his elderly grandfather stand up just to turn it off. This comment went viral and was echoed by others who shared similar sentiments.
