YouTube streamer Ludwig Ahgren took to his channel to respond to people calling him a "furry." For context, the streamer recently released his first-ever game called Rivals of Aether II, which included "bipedal, fully-like" creatures. To promote the game, Ludwig donned one of the masks of one of the in-game characters. This ended up making him a target for trolls and memes. Here is the picture:
For those unaware, furry fandom is a "subculture interested in anthropomorphic animal characters." Ludwig, however, dismissed such comparisons, stating that he is not a furry but was simply promoting the game. He said:
"I am not a furry. There is nothing wrong with being a furry. I'm just factually not one."
He gave context around the situation, stating how he inadvertently became target of trolls:
"Our new game Rivals of Aether II released today and in it are bipedal furry-like characters. To help promote the game, I wore a mask of one of the characters - Forsburn. But what I didn't realize is as soon as the picture was released, everybody would call me a furry."
What is Rivals of Aether II? Ludwig's first-ever game explained
YouTube streamer Ludwig is participating in his first server game, Rivals of Aether II, a platform-based fighting game similar to Super Smash Bros. The original game was released in 2015, and the sequel was launched earlier today (October 23, 2024).
For those wondering how the YouTube streamer is associated with the game, Ludwig's company, Offbrand Games, is the publisher. In September, he made a post announcing the project with his company, stating:
"I'm releasing my first-ever video game. It's called Rivals of Aether II and it's truly full circle as a dude who started by streaming platform fighters to be able to publish my own with Offbrand Games. It comes out in one month and many people are saying you should wishlist it now on Steam."
Earlier in his stream today (October 23), the streamer played the game. Watch the gameplay here:

It's also worth noting that the game's originally planned title was going to be Rivals 2. The streamer explained that Marvel recently announced a game titled Marvel Rivals (to be released in December 2024), which meant that there would be a clash in the naming rights.
