On December 29, 2024, Darren "IShowSpeed" and Kai Cenat's Fortnite marathon stream officially crossed the 48-hour mark without a legitimate win. The marathon began two days ago, on December 27, on the streamers' Twitch and YouTube channels. The duo aimed to go on streaming without any breaks till they could get a win in the title's ranked mode.
The two have had several encounters with stream snipers, despite Darren and Kai warning anybody trying to disrupt them during their game that there will be consequences. The streamers had even claimed that Epic Games was monitoring their streams, hinting that stream snipers would get banned.
Now that IShowSpeed and Kai Cenat's Fortnite stream has crossed the two-day mark, many viewers have started questioning their skills:
"Major skill issues..." wrote @KenzieMarieInWA.
Another X user thought the streaming duo going two days without a valid win was "insane":
"48 hours with 0 valid wins in insane bro," wrote @suayrez.
Some even thought that the Fortnite marathon would extend into the next year:
"GG new year Fortnite stream incoming," said @WackoDZN.
Some viewers noted that Kai Cenat and IShowSpeed had already won a game and were extending the marathon for entertainment:
"I mean they already won Just doing it for the content now to keep us entertained lol," claimed @Gruthum.
For context, the streamers did technically win once around the 21-hour mark of the Fortnite marathon but decided to continue the challenge and deemed it invalid after talking to Ben the Dog.
Why did Kai Cenat and IShowSpeed invalidate their win during the Fortnite marathon?
As mentioned, Kai Cenat and IShowSpeed did win one of their ranked matches and finished #1 at the 20-hour-52-minute mark of their Fortnite marathon. As per the rules the duo had announced, this should have marked the end of the marathon.
However, they ultimately decided to void the win due to stream snipers. Stream snipers are individuals who intentionally try to get into video game lobbies with popular streamers to affect the gameplay. While they tend to hinder content creators most of the time, sometimes, they can also provide an undue advantage to their favorite streamer.
That is exactly what happened, with the stream snipers helping IShowSpeed and Kai Cenat win. IShowSpeed even talked to the popular smartphone app Ben the Dog, asking if they should "run it back." After the virtual dog answered in the affirmative, the streamers decided that the win did not count. As of now, they are two days into the challenge without a win.
On the other hand, xQc has accused Epic Games of giving IShowSpeed and Kai Cenat special treatment during the Fortnite marathon stream due to the stream sniper situation.
