The ongoing controversy involving YouTube star Darren "IShowSpeed" and influencer Amy Flamy has become a major talking point online. The duo first met during the streamer's visit to South Korea back in May. Since then, the TikTok personality has appeared in some of his streams. The pair's on-screen chemistry made them fan favorites, and many relationship rumors emerged as a result.
However, recent developments have caused a chasm between the two. It all seemingly started when a hairstylist named Courtney made some unsavory comments directed at Amy Flamy during one of IShowSpeed's recent streams. This naturally upset the South Korean, who later went live on her TikTok and said:
"You can't call someone your girlfriend when you are not communicating on a daily basis. Even then, I respected everything. But now, it really got confusing. Does he like me, or does he not like me? I was frustrated but I never said anything."
Tearing up, she added:
"Maybe he is just using me for content. Maybe...I was kept in the dark about everything."
When one of her viewers commented that she was making IShowSpeed "look bad," she responded:
"How am I making him look bad when he is literally taking advice from other girls and doing it on stream, calling him on stream."
What did IShowSpeed say about the ongoing drama with Amy Flamy?
IShowSpeed went live yesterday (June 10, 2024) to address his relationship with Amy Flamy. He clarified that although there was chemistry between them, they were never officially a couple. He said:
"Let me make this clear, too, chat. Me and Amy were never together. Amy was never my girlfriend. I do want to make that clear. I know I said that Amy was my girlfriend, but chat, she was never actually my girlfriend. When I asked her to be my girlfriend, even in messages, she said, 'I don't know yet. I need more time. I don't know.' A few more dates and she would answer it."
However, he added that he was wrong for asking Courtney, the hairstylist, about her opinion of Amy Flamy. He said:
"I f**ked up and I asked... so this all happened because I asked another girl. I asked another girl about advice of what should I say to her, and that's where I f**ked up."
IShowSpeed's cameraman Slipz comments on the drama
IShowSpeed's cameraman and friend Slipz (the duo are extremely close and live together) also spoke about the issue during a live space broadcast on X.com. He said:
"The entire stream (between Amy and Darren) was planned. The first stream was planned and there have been multiple situations where it has been, 'Hey, if anything else, we both know this isn't gonna work because you live across te world'."
He added:
"Also, we can't skip over the fact that Speed did say explicitly, 'Be my girlfriend,' and she said, 'no.' She is the one who kind of backed off it. So for her to go on TikTok live when she was upset on something that someone else had said on stream and act like they are in love, is kinda crazy."
It appears that the Amy Flamy and IShowSpeed chapter might be coming to a close. The duo had some wholesome moments together, such as when the YouTuber took her to see the FA Cup Final match at Wembley Stadium.
