Stranger Things actress turned Twitch streamer Grace Van Dien has called out FaZe Clan, accusing them of "staring and whispering" at her during the recently concluded Streamer Awards 2024. For context, Van Dien and individuals from the esports organization have been beefing for about a year, starting with former FaZe Clan member Nordan "Rain," who leaked that the actress was joining the organization in May 2023 before the official announcement.
At the time Rain and Grace Van Dien clashed on social media after he alleged that she did not fit the required gaming skills he deemed necessary for someone to join FaZe Clan. After the Streamer Awards 2024 on December 7, Van Dien reignited the controversy over a year later by calling out "boys" from FaZe Clan for acting tough and allegedly staring at her during the ceremony.
In a post on X, she claimed that they had "micro energy" and wrote:
"faze guys are so brave online but just stared and whispered whenever they saw me last night. micro energy"
A brief recap of Grace Van Dien and her history with FaZe Clan and Rain
Grace Van Dien started streaming on Twitch under the username BlueFille in December 2021, according to TwitchTracker. Her most played game on stream is Valorant and she started garnering a lot of followers after collaborations with other streamers playing games like Among Us. As of December 2024, she has over 321K followers on the Amazon-owned platform and is a partnered streamer.
On May 21, 2023, FaZe Rain leaked that Grace Van Dien was joining the clan after the official FaZe account made a post on X about having more female members. At the time, Rain was also at odds with the management of the organization and insinuated that the only reason Van Dien was being invited to join was because she was in Stranger Things and that it was a political move.
This spiraled into an online feud between the two individuals, with Grace Van Dien calling out FaZe Rain on her Twitch streams. The two also had heated exchanges on X, with Rain criticizing her video gaming skills. Other members of the organization such as FaZe Adapt also clashed with her on social media.
FaZe Rain also did a sort of interview with Grace Van Dien once she had officially joined the clan, but the meeting did not end amicably, with the latter supposedly leaving in tears. She would soon remove all FaZe Clan associations from her social media after reportedly threatening that she would leave the organization if Rain released anything from their meeting.
Readers should note that since this controversy, a lot has changed with the internal structure of FaZe Clan as a lot of content creators such as Rain have left or were laid off by the organization earlier this year after FaZe Banks took over as CEO.
