Video game studio Midnight Society, which was co-founded by controversial YouTube streamer Herschel "Dr DisRespect", has announced that they will be undergoing a "significant workforce reduction" as a way to adapt to the "multiple unexpected challenges" faced by the studios in the past months. This comes months after Midnight Society cut its ties with Dr DisRespect on June 24, 2024, just days after allegations emerged against the latter from an ex-Twitch employee.
These allegations claimed that the Doc held inappropriate conversations with a minor over Twitch Whisper, which led to his eventual ban from Twitch. In a later X post (which he has since deleted), the streamer admitted to having these conversations.
The announcement was made on Discord by the studio head of Midnight Society, Robert Bowling. He stated:
"Unfortunately, and as most of you know, we have faced multiple unexpected challenges in recent months. To adapt to these changes and secure the future of Midnight Society, DEADROP, and our commitment to providing innovative gaming experiences, we've made the tough decision to streamline our operations, which includes a significant workforce reduction."

Dr DisRespect had been involved with Midnight Society along with Robert Bowling and creative director Quinn DelHoyo since the founding of the studios in 2021. The studio has been involved in the production of a game titled Deadrop, a significant theme of which was the streamer's online personality and his involvement in extraction shooter games.
Now, with Dr DisRespect out of the picture, the studio has been making the required changes to Deadrop before its release in 2025, as mentioned in the Discord message.
Bowling further stated that the studio will share "revised plans and milestones" shortly to keep fans up-to-date with the modifications being made to the game. The Discord message continued:
"These measures, while difficult, are designed to strengthen our foundation and renew focus on our core mission. Despite these challenges, we remain dedicated to launching DEADROP in 2025. We'll be sharing our revised plans and milestones in the near future, and we thank you for your continued faith in our vision."
On the other side, Dr DisRespect has made a comeback to livestreaming on YouTube. In his return livestream on September 6, 2024, he made a number of controversial claims, one of which was his claim that he had purposefully admitted to texting a minor in June 2024, as an effort to bait journalists.
