Sidemen member, YouTuber, and Twitch streamer Simon "Miniminter" recently participated in the recently concluded Soccer Aid 2024 charity match. For those unfamiliar with Soccer Aid, it is an annual football charity event that involves several ex-professional players, influencers, and celebrities. This time Simon was invited and represented team England (managed by Frank Lampard).

However, the controversy was down to the fact that Simon barely got any minutes. He was brought on after the 70th minute of the game. This naturally upset his fans as well as the likes of JJ "KSI" and Ethan "Behzinga."

Simon has also opened up about the situation. He said:

"I've seen a lot online, 'cause I have seen Calfreezy mentioned it, Ethan's mentioned it, JJ's mentioned it and I know a lot of the comments are like, 'You wouldn't be saying this if it was anyone else. It's just 'cause he's your boy.' I get it. I get it from both sides. The whole thing is, it's a charity event. It raised £16 million. Insane."

As far as the lack of minutes he received, the streamer said:

"The timing, obviously, everyone wants to play more. Every single player is there to play as much as they can. What happens, happens."

He added that he now looks forward to the next charity match event hosted by his YouTube group:

"I do appreciate that my friends, they all got my back. I had fun. It is what it is. Sidemen Charity Match hopefully, and I'm going to be fit for it."

When will the next Sidemen Charity Match event?

The Sidemen Charity Match, similar to Soccer Aid, is an annual football event that has been held since 2016. This year marks the sixth edition of the event. The first three events were hosted between May and June. The last two were in September.

This year's Sidemen Charity Match is expected to take place in September, given that we have already passed the midpoint of the year. Last year, the charity event featured notable online personalities such as Jimmy "MrBeast," Darren "IShowSpeed," and Felix "xQc." This year's event is anticipated to follow a similar trend.

Last year, the match was moved to London Stadium for the first time. However, the location for this year's event remains undecided. During an episode of Sidecast (the group's podcast), the Sidemen revealed that both Wembley and Old Trafford had declined offers to host the event.
