Twitch streamer and YouTuber Charlie "MoistCr1TiKaL" (also known as Penguinz0) is supposedly taking a break from the internet after his recent controversy involving a debate with fellow streamer Nico "Sneako." This is according to news shared by one of the members of The Boys (a YouTube channel and podcast group associated with MoistCr1TiKaL) on Patreon.
While the post is locked, members who have already subscribed to The Boys on Patreon have shared it on social media platforms like Reddit. The post read:
"Effective immediately, Charlie (MoistCr1TiKaL) has made the decision to leave both the Official Podcast and Red Thread. He wants to go on an indefinite hiatus to scale back his time spent on the internet."
The post continued, stating that they are open to his return in the future:
"We obviously wish him the best, for everyone to respect his decision and for all to know that the show will always be open for him to drop by and talk shop should he wish to return."
What is the controversy between MoistCr1TiKaL and Sneako?
MoistCr1TiKaL and Sneako have been embroiled in controversy for some time. Their first feud began in 2023 when Sneako made unsavory comments directed at Charlie's girlfriend.
The recent feud stemmed from Sneako challenging MoistCr1TiKaL's views on trans rights and the transition of children. This occurred against the backdrop of a controversy involving Ava Kris Tyson, a member of MrBeast's crew and a trans creator.
During the debate, Sneako jokingly referred to transitioning as "cutting off one's penis." MoistCr1TiKaL admitted that he initially thought it was just hyperbole and played along with it, but this approach ended up upsetting many people on the internet. Later, in a stream, Charlie said:
"I assumed Sneako was talking in hyperbole about a nine-year-old getting their d*ck cut off because I didn't have the assumption that anyone thought that is how transitioning works."
He reiterated that he didn't realize Sneako was being literal:
"I thought he was talking about the overall point of a child transitioning which is a years-long process and you can't get that f**king surgery till you are 18. I didn't think that was a literal statement that he was making."
Given the context of the debate and the ensuing controversy, it's possible that the streamer's reported hiatus could be related to this situation. However, no official statement has been made regarding this on his social media platforms or during his streams. His last stream was on July 30, 2024.
