Moroccan Kick streamer and YouTuber Ilyas El Maliki was recently released from the El Jadida city prison on December 30, 2024, after completing two months of his original four-month prison sentence. The streamer's punishment was reduced as part of a new ruling by the Court of Appeals.
In the late days of November 2024, El Maliki had initially been charged with "inciting hatred and discrimination" after making controversial remarks about the Amazigh groups, which are diverse ethnic groups of individuals indigenous to North Africa, and subsequently Morocco. However, these charges were dropped after the complaints were eventually withdrawn.
Despite this, the court had found him to be partaking in "incitement to discrimination and hatred, gender-based discrimination, defamation, and both physical and psychological violence against women." Apart from being handed a four-month prison sentence, the streamer had been charged MAD 5,000 (USD 496).

Streamer Ilyas El Maliki has amassed a significant fanbase on his Kick channel, boasting over 406,000 followers on the streaming platform. Before this, the streamer had reportedly served three months in prison for assault with a deadly weapon and theft.
In a ruling that took place earlier this year, El Maliki was subjected to yet another three-month prison term and a fine amounting to MAD 2,000 ($200). This ruling was supposedly the result of thirty-eight feminists and human rights organizations making allegations against him of disseminating hate, slandering women, and encouraging gender-based discrimination through his online content.
He also issued an apology to the Amazigh groups and clarified his intentions behind the remarks, which had been deemed as inflammatory.
Ilyas El Maliki is one of the many creators on Kick that often find themselves at the center of controversies. Such is the case of Kick streamers CrisTravels and CaptainGee, who recently claimed they were allegedly drugged and robbed during their stay in Colombia.
