Popular YouTuber Jimmy Donaldson, aka MrBeast, has announced spending $14 million on building a "city in a field" for the contestants of the upcoming Beast Games show on Prime Video. Jimmy also shared a couple of photos of the said city in a post dated December 8, 2024.
MrBeast has been promoting his Prime Video game show, Beast Games ever since it was announced earlier this year. Last week he shared behind-the-scenes sneak peaks of the 1,000 contestants participating in the competition with the winner slated to win $1,000,000.
On December 8, 2024, he announced that the production team, which is his own company alongside Amazon Studios, spent millions of dollars on a city for a thousand contestants. In a post on X, MrBeast also reminded his followers that Beast Games was coming out on December 19, 2024, and wrote:
"We spent $14,000,000 building a city in a field for the contestants in Beast Games to live and compete in.. December 19th is almost here."
MrBeast says his goal with Beast Games is "to make the best content" not to "make money"
Since March 2024, MrBeast has been talking about the Beast Games, having claimed that it is going to be the largest game show of all time. The YouTuber has been putting out obstacle challenges as content for years on his channel, including the viral Squid Games-themed course from the popular Netflix series.
As the date of release draws near, Donaldson has been hyping up the show even more. In November, the YouTuber claimed that Beast Games had won over 40 Guinness World Records, such as having the game show with the largest cash prize, for the most number of contestants, and so on. MrBeast also showed off a stack of the Guinness World Records on social media.
Now, that it has been announced that the production team spent $14 million on a city for the contestants of the show, many have started wondering about the money spent on the entire show. While the total cost of the show has not been revealed, the news about the city got many of his followers on X concerned about the budget.
"How do you plan to recover your money Back?" asked @LUTHERLMS on X, commenting under the screenshots of the city.
MrBeast, however, seems unconcerned about the cost and replied that all he cares about is making good content for his viewers.
"The goal is to make the best content possible not make money."
With nearly ten days to go till Beast Games' release, readers should note that earlier this year, several contestants filed a class action lawsuit against MrBeast's team and Amazon Studios complaining about various issues. This included allegations of unsafe sets, and a lack of medical and nutritional support, alongside accusations of it being a toxic workplace.
