Jimmy "MrBeast" recently called out the "ultra wealthy" on X, claiming there has been a lack of response from the rich after he asked them to donate a couple of million to a charitable food drive on January 19, 2025. The popular YouTuber pointed out that they had shown a lot of support when he had talked about buying TikTok to save it from the US ban.

MrBeast is known for his charitable works through Beast Philanthropy and has made a name for himself by helping people. Recently, he criticized the US healthcare system in a video about helping amputees get prosthetic limb replacements.

On January 19, he posted on X asking the "ultra rich people" to donate their money to tackle world hunger. The YouTuber wrote:

"Dear ultra rich people on X, I’ve been working on a video where we feed people in need globally and if any of you wouldn’t mind donating a million dollars to help us feed more people that’d mean the world to me! Pretty plz"

One X user pointed out that Jimmy should already have a list of wealthy people because the YouTuber had recently revealed billionaires had reached out to help buy TikTok. User @soursillypickle wrote:

"You should already have a whole list of ultra wealthy people, since you said they asked to buy TikTok with you!"

MrBeast replied to this by claiming that in comparison, his post about donations for his charitable endeavor to feed people around the globe has received no response from the ultra-wealthy:

"It is funny that when I say I’m buying TT I get unfathomable amount of messages from the ultra wealthy but when I fundraise it’s crickets"

"Rich people want to make more money": Internet reacts as MrBeast claims he got no response after requesting money from the rich to donate food

As mentioned, MrBeast was one of the many people online who talked about finding a solution to the TikTok ban in the US before January 19, when the social media app was supposed to get shut down. The YouTuber had several posts talking about getting an offer on the table with the help of billionaires who had supposedly responded to his post about buying TikTok.

While that did not come to fruition, within a couple of days, MrBeast would go on to post about raising money to feed the hungry around the world. However, it seems the same billionaires who had expressed interest in buying TikTok had nothing to contribute. After MrBeast posted about it on X, many of his followers criticized the rich, claiming that they only cared about making more money.

"Rich people want to make more money. More shocking news at 10pm," wrote @tweetAC23.

Another X user, named @umetsubocho, said:

"That’s ridiculous.. most of these ultra rich just care about how to get more rich unfortunately…"

A Mark Zuckerburg parody account claimed the wealthy do not donate without "kickbacks":

"Most don't like to donate without a kickback"

Many blamed the lack of response on greed.

"Nothing in it for them when it’s charity though. Greed is horrible," said @RadgeGamer79.

In related news, MrBeast recently dismissed rumors that he was going to launch a cryptocurrency meme coin like Donald Trump and claimed he found the practice "icky."
