MrBeast called up IShowSpeed while the YouTuber was streaming on November 6, 2024, and challenged him to a race with Noah Lyles, who won the gold medal in the 100m sprint at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Lyles also holds the American record for the fastest 200m sprint time, finishing the race in 19.32 at the 2022 World Athletics Championships.
IShowSpeed has labeled himself the fastest man in the world for some time, racing any athlete or celebrity he comes across. He has challenged other Olympians, with Polish track and field sprinter Ewa Swoboda inviting him to travel to Poland for a race.
While he did not end up racing Swoboda, IShowSpeed was quite ecstatic when MrBeast called him up mid-stream and introduced him to Lyles. What's more, MrBeast also bet $100K that the content creator would not be able to beat Lyles in a race and invited him to travel to Orlando, where he had the money and a track ready for the challenge.
"Me and you need to race": IShowSpeed set to race Noah Lyles in challenge set up by MrBeast
IShowSpeed was doing a 33-million-subscriber special stream and was waiting for his channel to reach the sub mark when MrBeast called him. The streamer immediately realized who was standing behind the YouTube star and asked Noah Lyles for a race:
"Noah, Noah, race me! I need to prove to the world that I am the fastest man alive, bro. And I need to race you! Me and you need to race."
The Olympic gold medalist agreed in an instant, asking:
"When do you want to lose, man? I am where I always am, I'm in Florida."
MrBeast then said he had bet $100K that IShowSpeed would not be able to beat him:
"Bro, I bet a 100 grand you can't beat him. I got the cash right here."
The streamer was down to do it and asked which part of Florida the athlete was in:
"Say on god, I am about to pull up right now. What part of Florida you all at?"

When Lyles explained that they were in the Orlando area, IShowSpeed was disheartened considering he was in Miami and it would take about three hours for him to drive down. MrBeast, however, called on him to not back out, stating that he was making excuses not to race:
"That's your excuse?"
This made the streamer agree to the race:
"I ain't going to lie, nah f**k that. I am actually going to end my stream right now and drive right now and pull up. I am not even trolling."
After Lyles asked him to take some time to decide, IShowSpeed claimed that he would win in the race:
"Alright bet, I got you, I will. Hey, Noah, I promise I will beat you. My name is Speed for a reason. This is my chance to prove everybody wrong. Give me like ten minutes, I am going to text you."
After the conversation ended, IShowSpeed urged his viewers to subscribe to his channel so that it reached the 33 million mark. In about 20 minutes, his sub count rose just enough for him to end the broadcast and make preparations to drive to Orlando so that he could race Noah Lyles in MrBeast's $100K challenge.
