YouTube star Jimmy "MrBeast" has spoken out about a critic giving his Amazon Prime series, Beast Games, a 2 out of 10 rating. For those out of the loop, prominent media outlet IGN recently published a review of MrBeast's game show, calling it a large-form reality show that was "largely dull and without much of anything to get invested in."
On December 21, 2024, X user @_Ambish shared their thoughts on the situation, writing:
"Just watched ep two of Beast Games and IGN either got paid to give MrBeast a 2/10 or just did it for shock value. Show is entertaining asf (as f**k)."
MrBeast responded to the netizen's post, saying he was "saddened" to see "one person who doesn't like him" give a low rating to something that "thousands of people poured their lives into." Asserting that Beast Games is "clearly not" a 2 out of 10, the Wichita, Kansas native remarked:
"Yeah, sad one person who doesn't like me can just label something a thousand people poured their lives into a 2/10 when it’s clearly not. The show, as future episodes drop, is phenomenal, especially, once we get the number of contestants down and you get to know them!"
Here's how fans reacted to MrBeast's response:
"I think you should tailor the editing like they do in Squid Games to get to know people that you know will be in a lot of episodes a bit earlier. They do this in a lot of Netflix shows and it helps you get hooked in a lot earlier," X user @JacobCanfield wrote.
"Love your content, but I absolutely despise shows that come out 1 episode at a time! I need the entire season to binge-watch, sir!" X user @TheMacSweaty commented.
"Gotta let people have their own opinions. If someone thinks it's 2/10 who are you to say that to him it's not? Not everyone will love everything I found the grandeur of it was super interesting but way too fast-paced ADHD edit. Honest feedback. Wish it was a bit slower," X user @InspectorMNBL remarked.
"My son and I enjoyed the show! We are waiting until all episodes are released on the 13th of Feb and then binge-watching," X user @johnnybsrt responded.
FaZe Banks defends MrBeast as IGN gives Beast Games 2/10
Richard Bengston, better known as "FaZe Banks," has commented on IGN's low score for Beast Games. In a December 20, 2024 post on X, the FaZe Clan CEO criticized the media outlet for comparing the YouTuber's Amazon Prime series to "old media TV and movies":
"They are judging, criticizing, and comparing this to old media TV & movies when they should be comparing it to YouTube, Twitch, and TikTok. Numbers don't lie, Mr. Beast is by far the most successful media entity in today's market."
In other news, MrBeast recently claimed that Beast Games is the top-rated show on Amazon Prime Video in over 50 countries, including the United States, India, Angola, Australia, and New Zealand.
