YouTube star Jimmy "MrBeast" has criticized the deletion of a Reddit post that focuses on a segment of his latest video in which he talks about the shortfalls of the United States healthcare system. The post was originally uploaded to the official YouTube subreddit.
Stating that the now-deleted post was "on track" to end up on the front page of Reddit due to its virality online, he also accused the moderators of r/YouTube of doing "anything" to censor content related to MrBeast unless it is negative:
"Yeah was on track to hit the front page of Reddit. Such a shame that the mods on r/youtube will do anything to censor mrbeast unless it’s negative about me then it’s magically fine."
MrBeast slams YouTube moderators for deleting post focusing on his remarks about the US healthcare system
MrBeast's latest YouTube documented the YouTube star's philanthropic venture to provide two thousand amputees with prostheses. Not only did he give away prostheses in the United States but the YouTuber also covered countries like Guatemala, Kenya, and Ecuador. As described in the video, these amputees did not have access to the prosthesis due to costs — which can range from $5,000 to $50,000 — and insurance denials.
Towards the end of his video, MrBeast explicitly addressed the lack of effective insurance coverage for prostheses in the United States, and bemoaned the fact that a YouTuber had to step in to attempt to solve the issue:
"I wanted to say that the fact that some of these people had insurance and were denied, some of these people had insurance but didn't have the right coverage. It just doesn't sit right with me. Their only hope right of now getting a prosthetic leg... is for a YouTuber to step in and help them, which is absurd."
MrBeast had also made a post on X, claiming that he "could not comprehend" the reason behind the lack of proper coverage for prostheses, as providing one would also be beneficial for the economy, allowing the individuals to be productive members of society since they will be able to work more and pay taxes regularly.
"A lot of the people we helped walk again literally couldn’t work because they could not walk. Even if you look at this from purely an economical lense and not a moral lense, helping them allows them to work and pay taxes. So I genuinely can’t comprehend why we don’t."
In other news, the fifth episode of MrBeast's competitive game show, Beast Games was released on January 9, 2025. The episode featured hip-hop celebrity Lil Yachty, as a special guest. When talking to a contestant who had just been eliminated from the show, Lil Yachty was seen trying to hold back his laughter as MrBeast consoled him.
