Twitch streamer Fanum has indicated that he will be taking legal action against the NYPD a day after his Lamborghini was seized while he was IRL streaming from the Dominican Day Parade in New York City. The police officers temporarily took the AMP member's car and his driver was also arrested while the stream was live.
Clips from the stream, showing an NYPD police officer pointing his gun at Fanum went viral on X and other social media platforms on July 28. On July 29, he went live on his official Twitch channel, claiming that he would be suing the authorities:
"My attorneys will be contacting you guys shortly, uh, it was nice to meet you guys too."
The streamer proceeded to accuse the police of carjacking him and also made a joke about the Fanum tax:
"Let's drop Ws in the chat for that you know what I mean? You want to carjack me? Okay. You're going to tax me, I am going to tax you. No bullsh*t, sorry not sorry. We can't keep doing this NYPD, stop glazing, thank you."
Fanum's beef with the NYPD explored as the Twitch streamer talks about suing the police
As mentioned, Fanum was at the 2024 Bronx Dominican Day Parade in NYC held on July 28. The Twitch streamer, who is of Dominican descent, was in his Lamborghini with a couple of friends, including his driver and a cameraman. That is when a couple of police officers accosted the car, asking them to step out.
In the Twitch stream, an NYPD officer was seen pointing his gun at Fanum, with the streamer looking back at the camera and repeating the words:
"Why does he have his gun out? Get the camera on this, bro. Why's the gun out?"
The authorities then proceeded to get everyone out of the Lamborghini and it is not clear why, but went on to arrest Fanum's driver while the streamer stood on the side of the road after the camera feed cut off. Clips posted on his Snapchat showed a policeman driving away with the Lamborghini.
A few minutes before he went live on Twitch, Fanum also posted a story on Instagram blasting the NYPD. He stated that he had permits to be at the parade and also insinuated that he had the money and the lawyers to come after the police for what he claimed was a photo shoot with his car:
"ya decided to pull a gun on me and all them kids for what? we had a permit to be in the parade. Then after the NYPD carjacks me on stream, they pose up with my vehicle like a photoshoot. Them suits on the way. I got bag and time. Let's really do it."
The streamer's experience with the cops has garnered a lot of backlash online, with fellow AMP members such as Kai Cenat calling the police department out in a post on X.
"NYPDK F**K EM," Kai Cenat commented under a photo of police officers posing with Fanum's car.
In related news, fans might recall that Kai Cenat had a similar experience with the NYPD last year, where he was accused of inciting violence after a mob of his fans got out of control, with the situation turning riot-like.
