Twitch streamer Asmongold, also known as zackrawrr, has posted a statement addressing the controversial comments he recently made about the ongoing conflict in Gaza. The streamer's remarks about Palestinians sparked a lot of backlash online after viewers reshared clips of his opinion on the people of the region.

Hours after clips of his speech on the Gaza conflict went viral, the content creator posted on X saying he was "too much of an a**hole" when he spoke about Palestine. He wrote:

"Looking back on it, I was way too much of an a**hole about the Palestine thing. My bad.
"Of course no one deserves to have their life destroyed even if they do things or have views I find regressive. You guys deserve more than me saying stupid sh*t like that, I'll do better"

Asmongold's Palestine remarks explored as Twitch streamer addresses them amid backlash

Asmongold has been streaming on Twitch for about a decade. As a veteran content creator, he is known for speaking his mind when it comes to video games and popular culture. His controversial takes on socio-political issues have sometimes landed him in hot water.

On October 14, 2024, the Twitch streamer spoke about the ongoing conflict in Gaza, and his remarks sparked outrage on social media. He said about the topic:

"I am not going to cry a f**king river when people who have genocide that's baked into their laws are getting genocided. I don't give a f**k, they are terrible people. They are not able to kill as many people as Israel because they don't have as many bombs or as many weapons. But if they did, they'd be doing the same thing.
"These people are not your allies, they are not the same as us. They come from an inferior culture that is horrible, it kills people for their identity and is directly antithetical to everything Western values stand for and is an inferior culture in all ways."

It appears that Asmongold is somewhat backtracking on his points while addressing the controversy on social media.

When X user @Makosmash claimed that the Twitch star had violated his own "golden rule of never apologizing", the streamer countered by saying he doesn't mind apologizing if he is in the wrong.

Soon after the content creator's remarks went viral on social media, many had called on Twitch to take action against him.

Palestinian-American Kick streamer Fousey went off on Asmongold as well, stating that he should be punished.
