Controversial livestreamer Nickmercs made his comeback stream to Twitch after a seven-day ban for using the anti-trans t-word slur on July 8. Addressing the ban and its subsequent fallout, Nickmercs claimed that he did not know that the offensive word used on stream was "derogatory".

For those unaware, the FaZe Clan member was handed a seven-day suspension from Twitch on June 28. Addressing the issue, Nickmercs revealed that the Amazon-owned company had told him the reason for the ban was because he had used the word "tra**y" while making remarks against the LGBTQ+ community.

On his comeback stream, the content creator denied any knowledge about the word being offensive, stating:

"I can't say the word I had said on Twitch because it's considered derogatory, it's like a bad word. Hold on though, before you go crazy just wait a second. All I want to say, I did not know that that was a derogatory word."

The streamer further insisted that while many may think he knew what the anti-trans slur meant, he did not:

"You can think that I did, but wallahi, I swear to god on mom's life, on everybody I love, I did not know that that was derogatory."

"I understand there are rules": Nickmercs addresses Twitch ban for using offensive slur on stream

While Nickmercs insists that he did not know what the slur meant, readers should note that the streamer has been making headlines for his contentious comments for some time now. Clips from his Twitch streams where he has repeatedly denied the existence of trans and intersex people have gone viral on social media over the past month.

Switching to his recent actions, Nickmercs did note that he had been saying negative things about the trans community on his Twitch stream that ultimately got him banned:

"Now, putting that to the side, we were not saying a lot of positive things about said community during that stream. So, you can argue that it was neither here nor there. And that part I agree with."

Nickmercs again pushed back against the narrative that he knew what the slur meant, and revealed that Twitch told him it was akin to using the n-word slur on camera:

"However, people are going around like, 'Oh, he knew, he knew.' Yeah alright, you didn't know. I didn't f*cking know! They are saying it's like saying the f*cking n-word! I didn't know that, why would I?"

The streamer further addressed the week-long ban, stating that he realizes rules and regulations need to be followed to maintain his platform and takes responsibility:

"Anyway, so they banned me for a week. They canned my a** for a week, bro. To be honest it was good timing, I was going to Vegas. When I came back it was July 4th and I had family in town so not all bad, it's okay, I'll take my band to the chest. I understand there are rules, you can't break them. Or else, you got to pay the price, you got to pay to play, okay? Um, and there you go, alright? Nowhere near that."

Nickmercs then read out a chatter's response about comparing the two slur words:

"Comparing to the n-word is wild? Look, I am just telling you what they were telling me. I don't understand either."

As mentioned, Nickmercs has been quite outspoken about his views on the transgender community, having been labeled transphobic for a lot of his past comments about the marginalized community.
