Popular Twitch streamer Nick "Nickmercs" was banned from the Amazon-owned platform earlier today (June 28). Nickmercs is no stranger to controversies and has made some contentious statements in the past, particularly involving the queer community. While the exact reason was not shared by Twitch, the streamer has taken matters into his own hands and spoken about it.

According to Nick's latest post on X.com, he was banned from the platform for using the word "tr**ny." For those unaware, "tr**ny" is considered a derogatory term that refers to transgenders or trans-individuals. Here's what Nick wrote:

"Banned for using the word “Tr**ny” on Twitch. Apparently, that’s a derogatory term. That’s on me. Next time I’ll use mental health disorder."

Is Nickmercs' ban from Twitch permanent?

Nickmercs has been banned on Twitch for the first time in his streaming career. The news was initially reported by a Twitch ban tracking account (bot) on X called StreamerBans (@StreamerBans).

Nick also happens to be one of the most followed streamers on the platform. At the time of his ban, he had 6.72 million followers on his Twitch account. Many fans have also speculated on whether it is a permanent or temporary ban.

As it appears, Nickmercs' ban is temporary. This information comes from another bot account, CommanderRoot (@CommanderRoot), which checks the Twitch API to reveal the nature of bans for the users in question.

As per the bot, the commands had the terms "temporary" and "partner" in them (indicating that the streamer will be back on Twitch). Here's the post in question:

This ban, of course, doesn't mean that Nick will have to pause all his streaming-related activities. He also streams on the Stake.com-backed platform Kick, where he has over 240K followers.

What did Nickmercs say in his streams?

As mentioned earlier, Nickmercs can be quite contentious in his streams. He has faced criticism in the past for his comments. During a June 11, 2024 stream, the streamer's controversial remarks sparked further debate. He said:

"'Nick, the transphobes are struggling against the trans...' There's no such thing as trans people. That's something that you created. So, have fun in your little dreamland, but that s**t is not even real."

He added:

"Let me bring it down for you, all right? Pen*s - dude. Vag*na - girl. Done! Don't come in here with f**king trans sh*t, bruh! Ridiculous!"

The streamer has also recently been called upon to comment after his friend and fellow streamer, Guy "Dr DisRespect," faced serious allegations. Initially wanting to wait for further information, Nickmercs eventually stated that he could no longer support Dr DisRespect after the latter made his statements.
