Streamer Nick "Nickmercs" known predominantly for his FPS gameplay, especially on Call of Duty, recently took it upon himself to tackle NetEase Games' latest development, Marvel Rivals. During a January 16 broadcast, Nick admitted his gameplay in Rivals is the weakest in comparison to his fellow streamer TimTheTatman, conceding that Tim’s performance is superior to his own.
Nickmercs built a substantial following by showcasing high-level gameplay across various FPS titles, including Call of Duty: Warzone and Apex Legends. In the COD world, the streamer is celebrated for his aggressive playstyle and strategic acumen. He also spent nearly five years with FaZe Clan, which is known for being one of the most successful Call of Duty teams in esports history.
In his stream, Nick noted that, unlike COD, Marvel Rivals does not encourage automatic aim-assist, which is a common function in most console shooter games to make it slightly easier for players to lock in on targets:
"I don't know if there's been a game we've played... that all the boys are playing, where we are the worst... more importantly where we're not as good as Tim. I'm a*s at this game. I've never played a game like this in my life... there's literally no aim assist."
"This motherf**ker's better than me": Nickmercs claims that TimTheTatman almost reached Overwatch's professional level
Comparisons between Marvel Rivals and Blizzard's Overwatch are prevalent, as both games share core gameplay elements such as team-based combat, character roles, and objective-based modes.
In Marvel Rivals, characters are categorized into three roles: Vanguards (tanks), Duelists (damage dealers), and Strategists (supports), mirroring Overwatch's classification of heroes.
Nickmercs noted that previously, TimTheTatman's skills on Blizzard's title almost earned him a spot in an Overwatch professional league:
"TimTheTatman, formerly, Overwatch, from what I've heard, was almost a professional player. I don't know how that works."
The streamer found this somewhat difficult to believe, especially considering Tim's performances in other games. Regardless, he also gave credit where credit's due when it comes to Marvel Rivals:
"I think that's pretty damn good for TimTheTatman... That motherf**ker is a goddamn Idaho-ian potato at every goddamn game we play. For like three years all he did was watch, instead of playing... This motherf**ker's better than me at this game."
In a recent development within the community, TimTheTatman openly criticized fellow streamer Ninja during their interactions in Marvel Rivals.
