Olympic gold medalist Noah Lyles narrowly beat YouTuber Darren "IShowSpeed" in a 50m sprint race organized by MrBeast on November 6, 2024, in Florida. The challenge arose hours after MrBeast called up IShowSpeed during his livestream on the same day.
The 50m dash was quite close, with Noah Lyles and IShowSpeed finishing neck and neck. The race was so tight that the streamer initially claimed it was a tie:
"That was a tie! That was a tie!"
However, upon reviewing the video, it was clear that the world-class runner had edged out the victory.
"I could pay for your doctor's appointment for your eyes": Noah Lyles trolls IShowSpeed after beating him in a race
After MrBeast called up IShowSpeed on his livesteam on November 6, 2024, the the 19-year-old immediately recognized Noah Lyles beside the YouTube star and challenged him to a race. The athlete accepted, and MrBeast revealed that they had a track ready and wagered $100K on Lyles winning. After some discussion, the streamer agreed to drive down for the competition.
The race was a tight one, and the results had to be verified with camera footage. Initially, IShowSpeed claimed he had won:
"Bro, I won. I won that, bro!"
Noah Lyles trolled IShowSpeed for the comment, saying he would pay for the content creator's eye appointment:
"I can pay for your doctor's appointment for your eye doctor. I am going to get my money."
Reluctant to concede, IShowSpeed asked Lyles for a rematch. When the professional runner declined, the streamer insinuated that the Olympian had barely won and was too afraid to go again:
"You can't take that win. Let's go again, let's do a rematch. You hear him? He barely won and he is talking crazy! He didn't even win."
After some back and forth, MrBeast asked Noah Lyles which charity the $100K would go to, and the athlete responded it would be donated to The Lyles Brothers Sports Foundation.
Lyles then agreed to a rematch, stating that IShowSpeed could train with him for a week before challenging him again.
"You should practice with me. And then at the end of the week, we go again. That sounds good, right? Then you will be faster, you will know what to do, you'll have the techniques, you'll have the advantage. And then we can run the real men's race, the 100m."
IShowSpeed shook Noah Lyles' hands, seemingly agreeing to train with him, and claimed that he could have beaten the Olympic gold medalist if he had the right technique.
