The NYPD reportedly detained Twitch streamer Fanum while he was livestreaming from the New York City Dominican Day Parade, with clips of a police officer drawing his gun at the content creator going viral on social media. The AMP member was broadcasting the incident on his Twitch livestream and other social media platforms.
While it is unclear why the authorities acted this way, a clip shared by @FearedBuck on X showed the Twitch star repeatedly asking about the police officer and his gun in disbelief:
"Why does he have his gun out? Get the camera on this, bro. Why's the gun out? Why do you have this gun out? Why does he got that gun out?"
From the video, it looked like the officer wanted the streamer to get out of the vehicle. The clip has garnered over half a million views within just a couple of hours of being posted.
Twitch star Fanum's driver was reportedly arrested by the NYPD with the streamer's Lamborghini seized
Fanum is a highly popular livestreamer and content creator on Twitch with over 2 million followers on the Amazon-owned streaming platform. He also lends his name to the popular internet slang "Fanum Tax", which has become viral among youngsters.
The streamer is of Dominican descent and was out in NYC at the Dominican Day Parade when authorities suddenly confronted him and his acquaintances. Fanum's livestream feed was cut off after a couple of police officers asked the content creator and his friends to step out of the Lamborghini they were streaming from.
Subsequent clips on social media show Fanum's driver getting arrested and taken away by the NYPD with the Twitch star also being asked questions. It seems that the streamer was not arrested. However, the police allegedly drove away with his Lamborghini, while Fanum was left standing on the streets surrounded by curious fans.
