Kick's X account recently joked about losing its blue verification checkmark in posts made on the platform on September 2, 2024. In the first one, the official Kick account (@KickStreaming) asked where its verification badge was. It provided a screenshot of the area next to the platform's name which showed a "Get verified" option instead of the typical blue checkmark.

In a subsequent post, the account joked that it couldn't afford to get X premium as it spent "all the money" towards the Kick Creator Incentive Program.

For those unaware, the Kick Creator Incentive Program has been around since its first announcement on August 15, 2023. It was officially launched back on February 1, 2024, and focused on allowing eligible content creators to earn a salary through their work on the platform.

Official Kick account jokes about being unable to "afford" premium on X after putting money in the Kick Creator Incentive Program

Kick's Creator Incentive Program is known for its attractive revenue split in favor of the content creator, in which the latter retains 95% of the subscription revenue. The remaining 5% goes to Kick. However, certain eligibility criteria need to be fulfilled, such as the interested streamer's channel adhering to the platform's Terms of Service (ToS), Community Guidelines, and DMCA Policy.

Apart from these, certain channel-specific metrics also need to be met to attain eligibility for the program, including minimum Stream Hours, Unique days streamed, Average Subscriptions, VODs, and Followers.

Explaining the reason behind the absence of the checkmark, Kick sarcastically posted on X that the money required for it had been spent on the incentive program:

"Ohhh I think I know what happened. we couldn't afford premium because all the money is going to the Kick Creator Incentive Program, where YOU get PAID by Kick to stream."

With Kick streamers being involved in their fair share of controversies in 2024, this year has proven to be an eventful one for the platform. Some of these controversies include the brief appearance of Playboi Carti on Adin Ross' livestream, Steven "Konvy" making a death threat, and Zherka and Heelmike being permanently banned, among others.
