During an interview on The Joe Budden Podcast, journalist Elliott Wilson disclosed an unknown detail related to the beef between Kendrick Lamar and Drake earlier this year. He mentioned that there was tension between him and Drake when Drake was dealing with the dispute. Wilson recounted questioning Drake about his intention to release the diss track Family Matters, and Drake responded with a rat emoji.

Wilson explained the same by saying:

"He sent me something. But I can't say what he sent me, because if I tell you what he sent me, it reflects what he sent me. Does that make sense? He just sent me a rat emoji."

Elliott Wilson continued by saying that Drake initially believed him to be sending details about OVO and his family to Kendrick Lamar since the duo was in Venice at the time when the rappers released diss tracks aimed at each other.

While Elliott's statement went viral on social media platforms, fans of OVO began posting rat emojis in the comments section of a few of his posts on X.

Elliott later retweeted a post shared by a person with username @kz3354 on June 8, 2024, and wrote on top:

"[cap emoji] a tat tat."

Notably, Wilson had once criticized Drake in July 2023 for avoiding rap media and later apologized for the same in an interview with DJ Akademiks. Wilson expressed his criticism in a tweet, which has been deleted now, and wrote:

"Moment of clarity: No disrespect to Lil Boat. Yachty's convo with The Boy was comfy and had some cool moments. I was more so clowning the comedy shenanigans with outsiders to our culture. It would be great to hear Drake speak to us again. Even if it ain't me."

Elliott Wilson and Drake had a few issues in the past: Apology and other details explained

Although Elliott Wilson's revelation has grabbed the attention of the public on social media, he had previously targeted Drake on another occasion. Back in July 2023, Wilson posted a few tweets where he described his conversations with Drake as "streaming piles of mud."

While the tweets were eventually deleted, Drake shared a few words in the comments section of a video posted by DJ Akademiks. The clip featured Wilson speaking to Trippie Redd at Rolling Loud Miami held in July 2023 and Drake's comment stated:

"Lol man sh*ts on not coming to his platform for a second time and now Elliott 10 toes doing Yes Julz run up interviews at Rolling Loud."

Elliott Wilson then spoke to DJ Akademiks in August 2023, saying that he shares a close bond with Drake due to which he has apologized. Wilson added:

"He's been respectful. He's given me more interviews than anybody. I've had six interviews with him."

Elliott even appeared on The Bigger Picture last month where he said that Drake unfollowed him after Kendrick was declared as the winner of the beef by the public. Wilson stated that he was initially shocked since Drake was not an "unfollow kind of dude."

Elliott Wilson also claimed in an interview with Uproxx last month that "Kendrick clearly won", adding that he won't be able to visit Toronto for some time. Elliott additionally stated in the conversation that he is fine with that if things are not fine between him and Drake.
