YouTube star Darren "IShowSpeed" became the subject of backlash from his Paraguayan fanbase after he decided to prematurely end his broadcast due to issues with his internet connection. The streamer had been visiting both Paraguay and Brazil within the same broadcast, but had issues connecting with Elon Musk's Starlink internet and eventually abandoned the broadcast.
The streets of Ciudad del Este were flooded with irate fans, chanting and cussing the streamer. The translation of the chants, which were in Spanish, was described by @DramaAlert on X:
"They're chanting a swear at him in Spanish which translates to 'son of a b**ch'."
IShowSpeed cussed by Paraguayan fans after prematurely ending his IRL stream while touring the country
IShowSpeed has been connecting with his fanbases across country lines through his tours of various regions across the world. The streamer is currently exploring South America, visiting Uruguay, Chile, Argentina, Panama, Ecuador, Guatemala and Colombia so far.
As is typical of the streamer, his broadcasts in the region have been full of unexpected moments, such as him becoming the target of fireworks thrown by fans in Chile.
Due to the poor internet connection in Paraguay, IShowSpeed's 17-minute-long broadcast appeared to lag and get stuck. After waiting and trying to get better connectivity, he decided to escape the streets and seek refuge from the swarm of fans following him.
Eventually, IShowSpeed decided to end the broadcast and delay it by a few hours. With the original stream now deleted, the new broadcast was set for a premiere at 1:30 pm on January 27, 2024 (EST).
IShowSpeed recently celebrated his 20th birthday and recounted a special experience he had on the day during his IRL broadcast in Chile. The streamer had received a personal wish from his icon, Portuguese football star Cristiano Ronaldo, through an Instagram comment under his post.
