Popular Twitch streamer Imane "Pokimane" has called out supposed "misinformation" about showing FaZe Kaysan's DMs on her live stream. For context, on December 2, 2024, the FaZe Clan member asked Imane out for dinner in Instagram DMs while she was live on her Twitch and chose to react to it in front of an audience.
Pokimane essentially laughed away the invitation to dinner and clips from the incident went viral on social media. While most thought it was funny — with many trolling Kaysan — some have criticized her for sharing the private DMs in a public space.
Pokimane has countered that argument in a reply to X user @royal_bobby24, who called her the B-word, writing that her behavior was weird:
"Bro I hate bi**hes who be posting mfs Dms on social media. Weird behavior," wrote @royal_bobby24.
To this, the Moroccan-Canadian Twitch streamer replied stating that this was misinformation to make her out to be the bad guy. Pokimane also claimed that she and Kaysan had been streaming the Instagram DMs because he had responded to a message before she pressed 'send'. Imploring people to not misconstrue the events, she wrote:
"It’s genuinely disheartening how often misinformation is spread just to paint me as the bad guy. I did not leak Kaysan’s DMs, we were both streaming the DMs, that’s how he responded to me before I even hit send. This was all jokes. Please don’t twist it into something else," claimed @pokimanelol.
Kaysan and Pokimane's Instagram DM controversy explored
On December 2, Pokimane was livestreaming on Twitch when she showed the ongoing DMs between her and FaZe Clan member Kaysan to her audience on the Amazon-owned platform. Clips from the interaction went viral, with many posts on social media highlighting how she had laughed at being invited out to dinner.
In the Instagram DMs, Kaysan had initially floated an idea about going out to a restaurant and said that he owed her dinner after stating that he had misjudged her before.
"We are more than good. Apologies for misjudging you in the past, you're super cool. I owe you dinner."
After reading this on stream, Pokimane had a positive attitude and even typed out a message about a hypothetical meetup at some Middle Eastern restaurant with others from the FaZe Clan. The unsent message reads:
"That's so nice, we can hit a nice middle eastern joint w the FaZe boys sometimes!! my treat tho."
Before she had even finished the message, Kaysan sent her another message indicating that he was watching Pokimane's stream. In his message, Kaysan hinted that the dinner would be only for the two of them:
"No no, not the faze boys, just us. How else can we become friends"
This prompted Pokimane to firstly frown before she burst out laughing and dismissed the whole thing saying:
"That's funny as hell, though."
She also noted how Kaysan had sent a reply to her unsent message, calling it stream sniping:
"Stream sniping DMs."
Readers should note that Kaysan himself has reacted to Pokimane's rejection and subsequent social media posts and has claimed that it was just him being friendly and shooting his shot. It does not appear that he was offended as he was smiling while addressing the issue.
That said, popular Canadian Twitch and Kick streamer xQc has come out accusing Kaysan of harassing Pokimane due to the DM situation.
