Marques Brownlee's apology has revealed that he took the liberty to delete that section from the video and justified it by claiming that it was the right thing to do while acknowledging that it looks like a cover-up:

"I've since cut it out of the video with YouTube's editor tool. I also understand that this looks like covering it up, but I think it's the right thing to do."

Marques Brownlee also claimed that the part of him speeding had no purpose to be in that video, but stated that by deleting it he was not trying to absolve himself or people who speed:

"There's no reason to leave that clip in (there was no reason to include it in the first place) and I would never want to make it seem ok by leaving it in the video. I'm well aware of the Streisand effect, and I know everything on the internet lives forever, but I think that's the best decision right now."

This post has received mixed reactions on social media, with one X user alleging that MKBHD had already tried covering up the fact that he was speeding by blurring out the speedometer behind the wheels before the segment was deleted.

That said, others have praised Marques Brownlee's apology.

"Lots of people will remain unhappy, but this is a good apology. You did a very dumb thing (we’ve all done something stupid before), you recognize it’s dumb, and you aim to be/do better. That’s way more than most people will do. Thanks for being straight up and addressing it." wrote @SnazzyLabs in reply to MKBHD's apology on X.
