There has been a lot of noise lately surrounding YouTube star JJ "KSI's" latest single Thick Of It. The song has been the subject of various trolls and memes, amid JJ's constant tirade against DanTDM (involving the Lunchly drama). Recently in an ImPaulsive episode, JJ admitted that while his first couple of posts on X were genuine, the rest of his reactions were meant to gather hype around the song.
"Because I had a single coming out, I was like, 'I can just use this as a way to market my song. I can use this all this hate, all this attention and drive it to people to go into my song.'"
Despite KSI's explanation, fellow Sidemen members disagreed with what he had to say about his reaction. According to Tobi "TBJZL," JJ was "burning" at one point. Josh "Zerkaa" added that he had "gaslighted" them into thinking that he was unbothered about the trolls.
"At one point, he was burning" - Sidemen members dismiss KSI's theory of being "unbothered" about Thick Of It trolls
In a recent episode of the Sidecast, some of the Sidemen members discussed the criticism that Thick Of It was getting. The trolling around the song has prompted a strong response from JJ, who claims it’s all orchestrated to drive more clicks.
However, the Sidemen members were quick to dismiss this theory. TBJZL said:
"We know him. We know that at one point he was burning."
Zerkaa added:
"He realized he had to overcome it but now he turned on us to say, 'Oh no, I knew it all along'."
TBJZL explained how KSI was barely excited about Drake's reposting his song on Instagram:
"I said to him, 'You idolized Drake for so long. He's now posted your song,' and he was, 'Yeah, I guess.' That was his response 'cause he was burning."
Zerkaa said that JJ even messaged in their group chat stating that he was simply playing along:
"Now he is saying that, 'I had to make you lot believe too...' He's gaslighted us saying, 'All along, he was unbothered'."
JJ has also reacted to this clip on X.com. He shared it with the caption:
"Smh…Real friends how many of us…"
Despite the criticism and trolling surrounding Thick Of It, the track has amassed over 44 million views, making it one of KSI's most-watched songs and videos on his main channel.
