Squeex laughs at Asmongold's comment about Esports Awards letting Samantha Rivers win Streamer of the Year for being a woman

With many popular creators giving their two cents on Samantha Rivers winning the Streamer of the Year award at the Esports Awards, Twitch streamer Squeex has also chimed in on the topic. Squeex had much to say about Asmongold's comments about the award.

Asmongold went viral on August 26 after alleging that Samantha Rivers won the award because she was a woman. Squeex found the remark very funny and laughed about its implications.

A clip of the streamer stating that it would mean the Esports Awards, which is currently partnered with the Saudi Arabian government, rigged the vote, went viral on the r/LivestreamFail subreddit:

"You are accidentally implying that the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, the Crown of Saudi rigged it for diversity. (Laughs) Which is hilarious. Which is so f**king funny on accident."

Samantha Rivers winning the Streamer of the Year Award two times in a row has gotten mixed reactions online. While the Mexican streamer is very popular among Twitch's Spanish-speaking side and has received much support from her fans, many claimed that others like Kai Cenat and IShowSpeed would have been more deserving candidates.

Asmongold seemingly agreed with this, and in his most recent broadcast on his alternate Twitch account, said:

"I'm salty that it was obviously a diversity pick because she's a woman and everybody knows it. It should have been Speed or Kai or CaseOh or like three other people."

The clip has garnered a lot of attention with many supporting Asmongold's view and others calling him out for not recognizing Samantha Rivers' achievements. Squeex, who has called out Asmongold before, talked about this while speedrunning Super Mario 64:

"I saw a clip of Asmongold being like, 'Oh my god! Rivers won best content creator of the year because she is a woman. It was diversity.' But like, the Esports Awards show was in Saudi Arabia. Do you know what you are implying on accident?"

Squeex further made fun of Asmongold and stated:

"You are accusing a Saudi company of caring about diversity. It is the funniest most Western take, makes me laugh. (In a mocking tone) Now, Saudi Arabia is woke!"

Adin Ross has also commented on the issue and claimed that award shows like the Esports Awards mean nothing.
