A clip of ESPN NBA analyst Stephen A. Smith reacting to Kai Cenat not getting "drafted" third at the Little Ballers Association stream on his channel has garnered a lot of attention on social media. For context, Kai Cenat has been teasing that he will be quitting livestreaming to pursue professional basketball for some time now and has announced a September 27 draft stream for a supposed league.
On the broadcast, it was revealed that the league was LBA, or Little Ballers Association, with the presenters claiming that it is a brand new junior league.
However, when Kai Cenat's name did not get drafted in the top three as he had predicted, many started trolling him. And it seems Stephen A. Smith was also in on the joke, and a clip of his reaction has gone viral on social media.
"You didn't listen": Stephen A. Smith says he knew Kai Cenat was not top three draft material
During the stream, Kai Cenat had asserted that he was going to get drafted third at the LBA basketball league. However, that did not come to pass after some kids got the top picks. While the streamer was on the floor fuming and hoping for a pick in the top 20, Stephen A. Smith sent out a video addressing the whole situation.
Smith opined on how the Twitch streamer thought he was going to be a top-three draft pick:
"What's up my man, what's going on. Everybody knows who this is, your boy Stephen A. Looking at Kai Cenat, I get you, I get you. You think you got a game, you think you got a game. You thought you were going to be the number three overall pick, didn't you? You thought you were going to be number three!"
The professional basketball analyst then criticized Kai Cenat's basketball skills:
"I know you know you got J, you thought you got a little bit of a hand which you think you can get to hold anytime you want to. But it's about how you finish, not how you start, my brother. Did you see the defense queuing up on you, did you see them making you go to your left because they knew that you wanted to go to your right? Did you see that? Did you see them stepping back and forth, forcing you to J?"
Stephen A. Smith continued his monologue about how Kai had not been picked, stating:
"You certainly didn't have, at the most key pivotal moments, when you were working hard to get to yourself to be a top three overall pick. But it didn't happen, it didn't happen."
He noted how everyone had been saying Kai Cenat would get selected in the top three, and claimed that the streamer did not have it in him:
"Now does that mean you don't have game? No. Does that mean you will have a failed career? No it does not. What it does mean is that, you weren't number three like you were saying you were going to be. Like the prognosticators said you were going to be, like everybody was saying you were going to be. Except your boy."
Stephen A. Smith explained how he had tried telling Kai that he was not top three material but was ignored. The ESPN presenter claimed that the streamer just didn't have "the game" for it:
"Your boy tried to tell you, you are top 20. Not top three. You didn't listen. I hope you learn from this and recognize that I know more basketball. You got game! Just not the THE game, you feel me?"
Details about the Little Ballers Association are quite scarce, and considering the high-production value of Kai Cenat's stream and the degree of control he had over the proceedings of the draft, many have speculated that the league was started by the Twitch streamer.
