TikTok sensation and Kick streamer Lieutenant Dan has reportedly been arrested in Tampa for trespassing and causing a public health hazard. According to reports, the man who went viral for surviving Hurricanes Harlene and Milton was taken into custody for not moving the boat he lives in. For context, Lieutenant Dan, whose real name is Joseph Malinowski, went viral last month after clips of him living in a boat off the coast of Florida during Hurricane Harlene were posted on TikTok. He saw another resurgence in popularity before and after Hurricane Milton, with Kick streamer Adin Ross talking to him about a potential deal with Kick.
Not only did Adin's deal with Lieutenant Dan fall through due to the latter's sketchy past, but it seems that the Florida man is currently going through legal troubles after mugshots of his recent arrest on October 18, 2024, were shared on social media.
Lieutenant Dan's mugshot go viral on X after latest arrest
Lieutenant Dan's criminal record was shared widely by netizens after TikToker Terrence Concannon set up a GoFundMe page to help the amputee survive the storms devastating Florida. In the wake of the controversy, it was revealed that he has arrest records from as long ago as 2006.
His most recent arrest, as reported by Tribune, happened on October 18, 2024, when he was forcibly removed by the police for declining to move his boat even after being warned. The issue was that he didn't have a sanitation device, because of which, authorities claimed that the vessel was a public safety hazard.
Lieutenant Dan was charged with trespassing for not vacating the park premises after he failed to heed police's warnings to move his boat on Thursday (October 17, 2024), leading to his arrest on Friday. As per representatives of the TikTok star, he is currently in custody and has yet to post bail.
In related news, Lieutenant Dan did start streaming on Kick despite Adin Ross not offering him a deal. However, one of his initial broadcasts was mired in controversy after the 54-year-old dropped the n-word racial slur while talking to the camera.
