Popular streamer Félix "xQc" discussed the controversial car crash involving Jack Doherty in his latest broadcast on Kick. To those unaware, Doherty had been riding his McLaren in the rain while using his phone with one hand. He eventually lost control and crashed the car into the road's guardrails, damaging his vehicle in the process,
In his stream on October 6, 2024, xQc talked about the cause and subsequent implications of the accident, claiming that Jack Doherty had nearly "killed his buddy" and thus deserved the "hate" he was receiving online.
The "buddy" in question was Doherty's cameraman, Michael, who could be seen bleeding in the aftermath of the accident and was later revealed to have required stitches. Commenting on the crash, xQc said:
"Bro, he almost killed his buddy... That is like diabolical. Driving in the rain and looking at your phone, doing some weird acceleration stunt or some sh** like that. Then not caring about your boy you almost killed. That's braindead."
xQc claims hate against Jack Doherty is "warranted" following McLaren car crash
Jack Doherty had been broadcasting live on Kick at the time, and thus, the entire ordeal including the aftermath had been captured on camera. After Doherty was rescued and pulled out of the vehicle, he was seen observing the damage endured by his car rather than focusing on the condition his passenger, Michael, was in.
This caused Doherty to eventually be criticized by netizens as well as popular internet personalities such as Corinna Kopf for not prioritizing the health of his cameraperson. Now, xQc has touted the condemnation being received by Doherty as "warranted", stating:
"Chat, I think the hate on creators is ninety percent of the time unwarranted, okay? I think the hate on this guy is like one hundred and extra warranted. Like, I don't think this guy gets hated enough, I'm not kidding."
Jack Doherty's Kick channel has been banned permanently, as confirmed by the streamer himself in a call with fellow Kick creator Aaron "Ac7ionMan". Any current attempt at opening the account simply leads to an error message. The streamer had held 185,000 followers on his channel before it was taken down from the website.
