A clip featuring FaZe Lacy has garnered some attention online after a supposed medical practitioner called him during a stream and claimed the Twitch streamer had been diagnosed with monkeypox. While the disease itself has been in the news lately, with reports suggesting there is a viral outbreak in parts of the world, many viewers remained skeptical about the phone call.
Some viewers insinuated that FaZe Lacy was merely farming views, with a fake diagnosis from a person only pretending to be a medical practitioner due to the topical nature of the disease.
Here are a couple of reactions criticizing the video on X, where it garnered a lot of attention:
"if its a clip farm thats not even funny," claimed X user @Lewziii
"That is not a DOCTOR," stated @destroynectar
"The guy on the phone sounds like he's high bro, " wrote @divinecoup
"Totally real and funny lol," said @wpryzw sarcastically
"Horrible execution here man," criticized @vanderkingfps
Watch: FaZe Lacy reacts to supposed call claiming he has contracted the monkeypox
In the short video, a man calls up FaZe Lacy on his stream alleging that test results seemingly indicated that the streamer had contracted monkeypox:
"We just got back your test results, andtit looks like you do have the monkeypox."
The content creator appeared stunned and asked:
"I tested positive for them?"
The caller re-iterated the supposed diagnosis:
"Yes, you tested positive for the monkeypox."
Pointing to a blemish or a pimple-type growth on his forehead, FaZe Lacy asked the man on the phone if it was a symptom:
"So this thing on the side of my head is my monkeypox?"
Without skipping a beat, the supposed medical practitioner claimed that it was a symptom:
"Yes, that is a symptom of a monkeypox. So, you will start getting more of those all around your body in the next couple of days."
The streamer seemed quite affected by the supposed diagnosis and asked if his life was in danger:
"So what do I have to do? Am I going to die?"
To which the "medical practitioner" replied that he should go to a pediatrician for medicine:
"Um, so I suggest you go to your local pediatrician and they will give you some medicine. But there is not much we can do. Just don't touch anybody."
Monkeypox or mpox is not a lethal disease and according to CDC, most people recover from it within a few weeks without medication. The fact that the supposed healthcare worker did not reassure FaZe Lacy and frankly asked him to visit a pediatrician has raised suspicion among viewers.
After disconnecting the call FaZe Lacy seemingly broke down on stream and emotionally stated:
"I am going to die! I am going to die. I have monkeypox."
While it is unclear whether the Twitch streamer's monkeypox diagnosis is legitimate, clip farming has become widely used on Twitch and other streaming platforms where creators intentionally put out misleading content for views. That said, a real case of mpox should be dealt with by a licensed medical practitioner who can provide real solutions and medication to alleviate the symptoms.
