A new controversy has erupted in the content creation community after Bryce Hall leaked DMs revealing that Dean Withers used the N-word. On October 6, 2024, Bryce Hall posted an eight-second video on his official X handle showcasing an Instagram conversation he had with the political commentator on April 22, 2019.
In the post captioned, "Not very woke of u, @itsdeann, smh (shake my head)," Dean Withers wrote the following:
"Hella goated, my n***a (Bryce Hall replies, 'Thanks.') Who edited it for you? (Bryce Hall replies, '@venxmyt.') Expensive? (Bryce Hall replies, 'Nah.') How much?"
Dean Withers addressed the controversy earlier today (October 7, 2024), admitting that the screenshots circulating on social media were "110% real":
"Screenshots of me saying the f-slur in 2022 and the n-word in 2019 have been doing their rounds here on X. First, I would like to confirm that both of these screenshots are 110% real. I made a pretty long post about my past use of slurs on my Discord some time ago. I want to share a part of that with you all now."
He then shared an excerpt from his Discord post, in which he "held himself accountable." Claiming that the use of slurs is "deplorable, harmful, and disgusting," Dean Withers said he was "ashamed of his past actions."
He elaborated:
"I am putting this announcement out not only to hold myself accountable but hoping you guys will hold me accountable as well. Collectively, society should hold all accountable who hold harmful ideologies or use such language; regardless of follower count, political affiliation, or perceived 'power.' The use of slurs is deplorable, harmful, and disgusting and I am ashamed of my past actions."
Furthermore, the American TikToker claimed that back then, he "lacked critical education surrounding the topics" he "now adamantly preaches about":
"As I speak about on my live streams often, the reason I host my debates is because I was once in a position where I lacked critical education surrounding the topics that I now adamantly preach about, and I now hope to share that same education that brought me to the truth with as many people as I can."
Dean Withers apologizes to the members of the BIPOC and LGBTQ+ communities after screenshots of him using slurs surface online
Dean Withers' address on X continued, with him apologizing to members of the BIPOC and LGBTQ+ communities for using slurs in the past. Expressing gratitude to those who "are holding him accountable in good faith," the 20-year-old wrote:
"I would like to personally apologize to all members of the BIPOC and LGBTQ+ Communities. Thank you to all of those who are holding me accountable in good faith today, I will never forget my motivation for doing what I do now, and neither should you."
Bryce Hall responded to Dean Withers' apology, saying the latter was "playing the I've matured card."
