Jack Doherty's car crash has been a major talking point in the streaming community since it occurred on October 6, 2024. The content creator was livestreaming when the incident happened, and his cameraman, Michael, was on the passenger's seat.

Leading up to the accident, Doherty was seen using his phone before seemingly hydroplaning and crashing into the side wall of a highway in Florida. The impact totaled his expensive McLaren, and while he did not seem overly injured, Michael Michael was left bleeding. Despite the injury, the streamer still asked the cameraman to keep filming, adding to the backlash.

In the segment of Saturday Night Live's episode on October 12, 2024, one of the comedians, Colin Jost, read a joke about Doherty and the incident in the style of a news report. In the bit, Jost set up the joke with a somber line:

"A YouTube star totaled his $200,000 McLaren after he livestreamed himself texting while in the rain."

The punchline was quite dark, with Jost saying:

"Even more tragic, he survived."

Jack Doherty has since apologized to his cameraman for the accident. The Kick streamer even bought him a jet ski about a week after the car crash as an apology gift.
